I was told the same concerns 3 years ago and since then have made 3 x 1 year purchases and 1 x 3 year / 3 computer.
All have worked 100% , including multiple installs on some 1 year keys. All keys now have an activation date , the first install you do is the subscription starting date. If you install it on another computer 6 months later , you would only get 6 months sub. So if its not a unique key , days and months would be missing from the subscription time that shows when you install.
