hidden SNR option
Wasn't sure if this should go in the hardware section or not.
Has anyone had any luck with the hidden SNR menu on the Billon 7800n modem/router? I am not sure if other modems have this hidden menu or not.
It's a hidden option that allows you to tweak your SNR, have done a bit of reading and some people have had significant positive results.
In the last 12 months I've had nothing but issues with my Internet and purchased 4 modems, taken 3 days off work and finally got it solved. The Billon 7800n is a great modem and very reliable.

i just got the 7800nl about 2 weeks ago and have played with the snr option in the modem, the connection speed for me changed from 3.8mb to 4.4mb after playing around with it. for some reason my snr profile was set to 12 by the exchange which seems too high for dsl, so with the snr page i've forced it to 5 and seems to be working fine so far at 4.4mb
check out for the SNR options

Thanks aceycv8.
Just tweaked my 7800N snr and got sync increased from 18.6 Mbs to 22.06 Mbs.
Will need to monitor the stability though as I am 1.7km away from my exchange.

I'm 11.5 km from my local exchange and my DSL gets no better than 850 kbps down and 350 kbps up. Can't even watch ABC Iview with that!
Currently using a Dlink DSL604T but might try one of the Billion 7800's and fiddle around with the SNR in case that may help get better performance from the service. Not likely, given the distance.
Craig.
