anyone know how bypass ISP block torrent downloads?

My isp has just setup there network to block only torrent downloads after 100GB is reached and leave the Http downloading and web browsing full speed ... now I gathering it not done by blocking ports ... wondering whether there prog runs in background to allow torrents go full speed after 100GB ..

change your port i have mine in the 13000's no issues what so ever ,they cant block every port

enable encryption on your torrent client

Like I said I don't think there blocking via ports ... as I changed them differ ranges still was shaped ... which I wasn't meant to be as there software was counting my uploading as well ..dumb asses ! they fixed it so was back to norm speed ...but wanna prepare for when I go over 100GB

They're probably using packet inspection, even with encryption they can still limit your bandwidth. (when well setup)

Dam man, 100gb every month...i might be able to use 100gb in one month, but then i wouldn't have anything to download next month lol....

Could always use usenets (but you have to pay).

Ok after googling and reading posts from as far back as May 2007, it is believed that ISP's are implementing hardware and/or software that send TCP RST packets that cause inbound connections to your computer to die.

So it seems that encryption and changing ports are not going to help. Many others experiencing shaping have come to the conclusion that switch to an ISP that does not shape is the best option (stick it to the man). Or wait until another client software is introduced or move onto a different platform as mentioned earlier like Usenet.

im still on a old dodo unlimited 1500k plan and they throttle everything between 7.30 and 10.30, seriously its worse than dial up the current speed i get, but make up for it in the other 21 hours

I was trying to find which software/hardware the ISP is using by googling it ... no success .. someone suggested using getright ... but that use same protocol too I reckon ..

Run a packet sniffer on the TCP port used by your torrent client, would be interesting to see whether or not ISP's in Oz are starting to use these methods.

Your doing over 100GB a month on torrents?? You need to get of the house more.

speaking of torrents, anybody having trouble with utorrent I have 1.8 build 11813 and over the weekend my boot drive died, so swapped it out, I have seen some weird stuff for instance previously before HDD died.

I had seen utorrent disabled via scheduler, it said "disabled by tcf".. disabled scheduler and all went again.

I had several reboots which is probably related to HDD dyeing but sometimes if you get on a torrent with many seeds/peers it will reboot too..

i dropped the connections down but still did not help

I also never do public torrents EVER any more.

I start to think ISP is playing funny buggers but i think this is typical end user paranoia

Yes - as I share my inet with neighbours either side of me .. so yer ezy to do over 100GB .. 175 GB month b4 ISP decided to shape torrents ... thats alright ! I pay extra $$$ and use rapidshare .. alot better speeds than torrents way easier than using Usenet ...+ bonus I don;t have share back 1:1 ratio on shit I download .. which didn;t mind doing but pain when running out HD space all times ..
