| Premium Member | I can't work out if this is a server issue, modem or PC. Tuesday I lost BB speed and have gone as slow or slower than dial up. I checked Bigpond service page and there are no known problems. Usage is still well below limit. I have done a scan in safe mode and nothing has shown up. Does anyone have any ideas? Cheers |

Check your temporary internet folders, history, cookie cache, recycle bin etc. Excessive needless use of RAM will almost certainly slow you down. Kindest Regards, " The Druid "....... ![]()

Rep Power: 32 ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | I'm with netspace, all was ok until approx 2wks ago, general websurfing has been ok and I say that lightly!!! but now everything has gone astray?.....I don't know whats happening, some websites I could get into some I can't whereas I normally didn't have problems, but the most significant problem for me is downloads, for the past 2 weeks I haven't got above 40 -50 Kbs where my speed is 1.5m anyone else having similar issues with netspace?

I normally average 100-150 kb/sec now I'm running at 3-10. Downloads are nearly impossible. I started downloading Rising 2009, it has been going for over 2 hours and is still only 43% | |

How many devices on your line? Has is been raining in your area?..... Water in cable pits getting into joints is a killer. |

| Premium Member | BB is ADSL1 Not sure about the filters etc, Modem is direct into PC but there is a wireless connection which I did try on the Lappy but had same results. As for rain, there has been rain but stopped on the weekend. If that was the problem, can Telstra fix it or is it something you have to ride out? Did manage to find a Malwarebytes app on the Lappy which I have installed but it won't allow me to update. I did run a scan anyway and got rid of 2 trojans but it hasn't helped the current problem. It's driving me nuts |

Can you borrow another modem to see if that is the issue ? If not , go to your nearest Dick Smith store and buy one to use as a test because they have a 14 day return policy. If its not the modem , you can take it back. If its not the modem , you will need to lodge a line fault with your ISP so they can get Telstra to send a tech to look in to it. But check the modem first as if you dont Teltra will charge you if their is nothing wrong with the line. |

Water ingress to joints in line pits is a common cause. They will dry out by themselves and usually correct the problem, but it's best to report a fault if one actually exists. If you have any crackling on your phone, that's a good indication. As mentioned, try to eliminate any possible modem issues at your end first. I'd also suggest calling Bigpond to enquire if there are any problems in your area that may not have been registered on the website yet. Quite often they are unaware of problems until people report them. |

| Premium Member | Thanks for the tip though I don't think I will be able to d/l something that big at the speed I have. Cheers |

| Premium Member | Just hought I'd give an update. The speed is back to normal now if not better. I did contact Bigpond and they asked for me to d/l a file from them to test the speed. After a day it came back. So I believe it was either water in the joints like MTV suggested, as we had a lot of rain and flooding the weekend before, OR it was an issue with Bigpond and they corrected it. Either way I am happy it is back. Thanks again to everyone for their helpful suggestions. Most appreciated. Cheers |
