Stop smoking.

There must be some screws around holding the whole cover on.

Sometimes removing the ashtray on some cars exposes them.

Sorry i cannot be of more help but every car is a little different in its own way.

Oh one other thing, a intermittent lighter is sometimes the contacts inside the lighter case body in the dash being bent back too far and not giving - polarity to the lighters case. Sometimes carefully bending the tabs back out with a screw driver is all it takes but be careful not to cause a short and blow the fuse.

If its a Hyundai it will be hell You will probably have to remove 3 doors and the gearbox.

Sanity is close to the truth

There's 4 screws holding the centre console on, 2 behind the row of p/b switches up top (pop them out to see the screws) and 2 more down the bottom behind the ashtray. You also need to remove the glovebox door and the panel above the pedals to unclip the climate control cables so the console can be pulled out enough to get at the lighter/stereo/whatever.

Wow you pulled apart your whole car just to get the lighter socket out.

As a comparison i had the same center console out on my Camry last weekend.

Its all clipped in, so easy to remove, not a single screw in sight.
