Whats wrong with the button?

Not springing back...there is a return spring inside for the button.

Not clicking/locking....spring again or the catch.

Seriously though they are as cheap as chips for a whole handbrake assembly, just change the whole unit over if your unsure how to repair it.

On the other hand you have not mentioned what is exactly wrong.....it could be the cable is broken if the lever comes up all the way with no resistance.

Holden's tend to be faster on takeoff compared to Fords due to gearing ratios.

even bet that either the cable needs adjustment or the self adjusters on the rear are not working check for cable slack first

why is that? my mate has a not so well looked after VN(early 89 not the buik engine), its done 350 000ks and is still running original engine, transmission, suspension, basically all the essentials and still runs pretty good. i mean the engine sounds crap, it doesnt have much go, its loud and rattly and i hate it but its a very reliable car
