Default Box office chatter on cable

Can anybody shed some light on what info is exchanged between Optarse cable Tv box through the phone line to Optarse?

Say when you order a box office movie?

I have had my box connected to Engin Voip for a few months and have never been charged for PPV!
Well until recently, now comes up saying, I have no credit left, please call foxhell.

Any Ideas?

phone line is required to be connected to your Optus box to clear smart card once a month.

If you have not had phone line connected for three months (box does NOT work with Engin VoIP) it means that for three month you card has not been cleared and Optus/Foxtel does not know how many FBO movies you ordered and therefore that's why you have not been charged.

But now, you won't be able to order anything untill card is cleared.
I can tell you how to clear it but Optus will find out about your ordered movies and you will be charged ...

you need to do New installation test - it will clear the card, but you need to have phone line connected first.
