What pin numbers on the RS-485 plug do we use to control a PTZ from a DVR ?
The PTZ is a Lilin which only uses two wires to control it.

Also any info on what all the dip switches are on the older Lilin PTZ's, the bank of 8 dips are used to id the camera but what about the others.....turn on off heater/ fan etc ?
Mainly wondering if you can select the control protocol, ie RS-485 or RS-232C

Usually the DVR will have some sort of schematic for PTZ control, what DVR is it as whether or not it supports Lilin Protocol. I know in some cases we have used Adam converters.

By memory it requires Merit LILIN MLP2 protocol, and the connection should be Data + and Data - (2 wire)

On the camera end RS-485 Input (TXDI+,TXDI-) to receiver signal from keyboard, matrix, DVR or

This is what im having trouble with, "to receiver signal from DVR".

The DVR is a DigitalSI 4000C Triplex but the manual doesn't say what pins on the RS-485 (DB9) input terminals are to be used.

I found on a website the DB9 female connector pins are -
pin 1 = RS-485 data -
pin 6 = RS-485 data +
Hope this is correct as im going to try it.

By the way the PTZ must be an old one as it doesn't have the TXDI input push in terminals, it just has D+ & D- and are screwed terminals.

If i was to not use the DVR to control it & use a control module (joystick) what would i be looking for ?

As long as the joystick is RS 485, D+ and D- should be sufficient, then send the video feed to the DVR. Most applications are done that way as DVR PTZ control is mouse based and not as easy to use as a joystick. You should be able to purchase a Merit Lilin Joystick, so protocol shouldn't be an issue, just plug and play.
