Fast avi mpeg joiner is the best for converting a 2cd movie download to a single file before dvd conversion [with convertxtodvd]. It's fast and no recoding occurs [that I'm aware of]...just joining hence no quality loss. Been using it for ages with excellent results.

I have used "Kate's Video Joiner" and found it to be pretty good.
