![]() | Hi all, I recently upgraded my dvd burner because the last one failed and I installed a Pioneer DVR-115D. I have since been using it without issues however today I was trying to rip a DVD and I got a message saying that that I had to change the region setting on my dvd burner. It was currently set on region 2 but needed to be changed to region 4, at the same time it warned me that I could only change the region code only 4 more times??? On my previous burner i never received this message and so I was wondering is this normal? If so is there a hack around it or what do you do if you have to change the code more than 3 times. Better still can it be converted to region free?? Your advice as usual is greatly appreciated. |

If you do, it goes without saying that you use it at your own risk. Your old drive was either so old that it came with RPC-1 firmware, or someone had already patched it. |

![]() | you "should" be on regiion 4 as its australia dvdshrink, or anydvd or dvdregionfree should handle any region 1 or 2 that you use. |

![]() | Hi Colin 2905, Yes found the firmware but was unable to download. It did state though that this would only fix the actual burner's software, but that Windows had another region changes counter, and I would need to use another software patch to overcome that. Hi Phil, Yes It was set on default region 2 so I changed it to region 4. So If I use any of the popular ripping programs, I shouldn't need to change the setting again anyway ? Thanks guys |
