A 1915 whsitle in average condition sold on ebay Australia the other day for $266. I think I have 7 of them now, quite a tidy profit based on that figure !

Unless it was just a bidding war between 2 people who didnt want to let go ?

$2000 is blowing my whistle ? I'm not planning to retire on it.

I'd better stop telling people how to collect....in the Collectables forum.

Hey mate, that mark is called the "Broad Arrow" and signifies property of the Government. I have the same mark on a brass/leather telescope I have here from 1898. The mark is still used today.

Edit: Great collection you have by the way

Take an english made whistle, throw in the word Australian and AIF, and an unsubstantiated story of where it came from and you've got $400 Plus.

Oh the money I could make if I didnt have a conscience.

Well done mate, thats a reasonable price. Anything from that seller is always good, he runs one of the major whistle history sites.

And yes, thats the only difference. Apart from the unverifiable story on the other one.

I forgot to mention a big "THANK YOU" to you Sanity for putting me on to this bloke. I am extremely happy with the purchase. My Grandfather was in the Royal Scots and had his 15th Birthday in France in 1914. The Trench Whistle will be added to my display with his three medals and a photo of him in uniform wearing his Kilt.

    Thanks again Sanity.

I picked up this Airforce whistle on ebay overnight for about $30AUD. The code on the side is the code for Airforce and the date 1956.

The whistle "bible" lists it as "uncommon" so it was probably a good score.

I also picked up another 1915 whistle for a touch over $50 pound. I am going to try and force myself to sell it for profit on ebay Oz to finance a couple of others I need for my collection.
