G'Day,
Actually I believe them to be UHF, not VHF.
After much angst and at great expense to the management.

actually its the urban fire that uses the UHF network, the rurals use VHF as its much better suited to use in rural areas as the waves travel better in the open area whereas the urbans use UHF as the use the buildings to rebound the radio waves off the buildings, as VHF would be stopped dead in its tracks by the buildings.

I would be very surprised if VHF was still in use.
To the best of my knowledge, VHF was abandoned years ago.
Your explanations above do not fit the facts.
I will check further and let you know.

Check this link for Rural Fire Service for Brigade specific channels.

funny u give that link and say the rurals dont use VHF as that link is under the " VHF BANDPLAN " icon on the previous menu page of that site lol
the reason that i KNOW that the qld rurals DO use VHF is im IN the rurals(hence my username :-p) if u ask y dont i get them form my station...they dopnt have copies of the freqs otherwise i would be asking, all the radios come pre programmed

Try searching for 'rural fire' on the ACMA database @ Australian Communications and Media Authority: Register of Radiocommunication Licences

Works for me

Here in Sydney we have both PMR & GRN freqs.
Most use the PMR (463-467) but the GRN (800-900)is a waste of time 'cause ya can't get any decent radios (talkie, talkie types) to "follow" on to each transmission unless its a dedicated GRN radio.

GRN is 800MHz??
you sure
shouldn't it be around 420Mhz?
any of the trunking scanners can follow the GRN no problem at all

RURALS, what area Rural Fire freqs you looking for?

I have a copy of the QFS freqs master list
the repeaters basically operate TX and RX around the 79Mhz and 81Mhz-82Mhz range
multiple CTCSS code for similar area sites
