Tested these units. The channel change is lightning fast, and I have found that with the right third party firmware loaded the F*xtel orange card will work in this box

This is the most compact receiver in the Vantage HD Series.
The PVR function lets you record to an external USB storage device (eg USB stick, USB hard drive). The built-in Ethernet connection (LAN, RJ-45) allows you to stream between 2 Vantage HD receivers or to download content via FTP.
The integrated card reader allows you to receive encrypted programs with your Vantage HD 1100S satellite receiver (with a valid subbie).
Third party firmware is readiliy available for this receiver.

I have a vantage HD receiver. I would like to watch Vision Asia using this receiver but somehow I can not get the picture. I do get the free to air channels. I am a paid subscriber to Vision Asia ( my IRDETO card) is genuine. The details I got from vantage sales is that the receiver will work with Vision Asia. Can you help?
If nobody responds I'm uploading the firmware tonight anyway as I'm doing it for someone else.
Cheers,
Leroy

As Leroy said, you need to update the firmware that comes standard with the receiver so that it supports irdeto encrypted services. The official firmware won't work because AFAIK Vantage do not have irdeto-licensed firmware.
You can download the firmware from sat-television website. You cannot use the Mediastar receiver firmware which is for an identical receiver with different badging. PM me if you are stuck![]()

Hi LeroyPatrol and Hillsbysa
Thanks for all the support - got the unit unit going.
But I can not record - message come up "No Media Found".
Don't know what this means. Got 320GB HDD installed.
Any assistance would be much appreciated.
Regards
Poni
You need to format your drive in fat32 on your PC. Download a utility called Swissknife and use that to format the drive.
When you plug it back in your Mediastar it will be detected.

Leroy,
please tell me about how fast is blind scan with HD1100S, some examples.
I`m so confused after a many of the comments on internet, someone tell scan in for example 5MHz step is too slow, someone tell need about 10 min for full range....To hard to know true before buying........
Thanks
an quote:
pansat 9200 or vantage1100 will both tell you fq, sr, polarity, and if the feed is dvbs or dvbs2. they will also find very low symbol rate feeds. I have found feeds with a SR of 1000.
full range vantage1100 blind scan ranges anywhere from 6 to 10 mins on a 5mhz step scan. you can change the step to 4,3,2 or 1mhz if you desire for longer scans. fyi the5 mhz step doesnt seem to miss anything. you can also set your start and end fq's for the scan.

Hi Digis@t
I've just run a blindscan, on the 5mhz steps, from 11650-12850 Mhz, covering all C1 & D3.
It took 10 mins, and found 324 TV and 167 Radio channels. It would have been quicker had I only concentrated on the known TP range.

Thank you for test bambbbam!
Can you please scan from 10750 to 12750?
Else I`m in Europe, Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Best regards
I reckon C1/D3 is a good worst case scenario. Most sats take around 1/2 that time using the 1100 and the 1200 / Ultraplus are quicker again.

Please my friends, I need info about full range KU BAND scan (10750 to 12750) from satellite with mostly feed transmissions and rarely used for regular channels, I hope something like that is active on yours satellite beams...?
Thanks to both!!!
PS. Probably Optus D2, Asiasat 4 or 5 is good for test? Put freq. range 10700 to 12750, never mind if nothing before 12200.....only for time test from 10700 - 12750.
PS2. As I mean, 1100 has hardware blind scan, but why wrote in menu "SW Blind scanning"...Is there really true (hardware) blind san or not?

picked one of these Vantage HD 1100s PVR systems about 2 years ago, or more.
I really liked it, had a subscription card, it was perfect. Records to USB were great.
Then last month I swapped to a new service. This one used Videoguard encryption instead of Irdeto2. and it's Sband instead of Cband.
Now my recordings are choppy.
It's a new satellite, and watching it live is fine, no choppiness. Could it be that the processor in the box can't handle the new encryption?
Why would recordings be more choppy now than before?
Could it be that my new provider offers true HD channels and it's just too much for the box to record?
it's the same hard drive, I've tried multiple hard drives, of varying sizes, externally powered enclosures, etc.
no idea why the recordings are choppy, I'm missing almost every other syllable.
ideas anyone?
