Box has frozen on me 6 times in the last 3 or 4 hours of watching tv.
I want to reload firmware & plugin but I can not remember which plugin I am using.
I can see which firmware it is but how do I know which plugin it is?
I have loaded the older 1.08.75 firmware & it is still freezing.
I have tried the 03032011 & 20102010 plugins without success
I only do an extended EPG for about 25 channels
Any ideas or combinations to try?
Thanks

Openbox X5 dual core CPU HD YouPorn Internet etc MPEG4 & HDMI lead $99
I have tried deleting radio channels & deleted 100 odd tv channels about 1 to 2 weeks ago & it still freezes..
I have tried different firmware & different plugins but have had no luck
Anything else to try?
Thanks
I have the Mediastar 8200s and when go to put the box in standby mode it often switches itself completely OFF then hangs loading loader requiring you to turn the power on and off again. Also when in EPG select blue button and update pages a couple of times it completely reboots and hangs at the loading loader again. Its as if it can not hold the complete 7 day epg (austar)
thanks thomo
Guys, try just using the receiver without downloading any EPG to see if it's running ok.
On the 8200, make sure the tuners are seated. You can see the cards through the top of the receiver. Use a small screwdriver to 'gently' push the cards down to ensure seated. Then do a factory reset, the box will reboot and then turn box off, count to 10 and back on then set up again.

Cards are ok, did a factory reset, removed a few unwanted channels with the skip function and went to epg and downloaded 40 odd channels and all seems ok on the 8200s. I wont change anything for a while and see what happens
cheers thomo

epg updating and use still causes box to reset completely on average twice per night, very annoying
The box has frozen 3 times in the last week or so.
I have not been downloading the extended epg.
What else can I try?
Cheers
A factory reset then rescan all channels.

[QUOTE=knowabit1;395557]I have the bluey in the slot & have had this stb freeze at varied times.
have you got a portable hard drive connected? certain brands will freeze the screen I found. My seagate was one for example...no good...western digital apparently the best

It freezes about 3 times about every 7 days or so without doing an extended epg.
I am using a WD hard dirive.
It has frozen before without the hard drive connected in the past.
I have reset & rescanned channels
Using a bluey, was watching channel go last night & the box froze, I had not changed channel for about 30 to 60 minutes & it froze for some reason
Just installed the following firmware & MCAS & I forgot to save my bloody service data
Knowabit1, how did the new Firmware and MCAS go ?..
It froze once when I was setting it up & the audio sync was out by at least 2 seconds I reckon.
I did a factory reset & have downloaded the 7 day EPG for 6 channels & it is working well since the reset.
There are still 2 red button (interactive) sport channels not working
STB froze twice last weekend & I reset to factory defaults & has been working until today.
It has frozen 3 times this morning, twice on ESPN2 & once on ESPN.
1 time this morning when I powered the stb off & on the stb started on ESPN2 & i did not touch the remote control, i just turned the tv off & comeback 2 hours later & the stb was frozen - the off / on switch on the back of the stb was the only thing I had touched
So I do not know what it causing it but I might try older mcas & see how that goes
I am going to leave on Aljazeera for a while & see what happens
