| Member | Speaking with regard to the Victorian allocations mentioned here some have been operating for a period of time so that would hardly be construed as testing, and nothing seems to be mentioned on the licence assignment details at acma except for maybe power and radiation pattern restrictions aimed at presumably non-interference to other services. |

| Premium Member | leroyPatrol, doesnt it amaze you that the TV companies just dont tell their viewers when they do this.Locally we had a translator blown during a violent wind storm last September. It took weeks for the locals to be finaly told it was working understandably on a reduced power etc untill it could be rebuilt. Then nothing for a few months untill more prodding (media, local MP etc) and they said they were waiting for a new mast to be built as it appears there were no (I dont believe it) masts available they could use in Australia. The mast is up finaly and it appears the panel antennas have been fiited (visual observation) but when they were asked why there was no signal improvement, their reply was although that was erected, they were waiting for a weather improvement to install other equipment. As of this moment I still not sure if its all up and running yet.Pathetic isnt it.....................Maybe now with all this security and terrorism panic this has to be kept TOP SECRET ???? |

![]() | I think the issue with ours is that the money was raised by the local community so I'm not sure if it's a funding issue or not. ABC is digital and that's it the rest are analogue. And the only reason I found the ABC was digital was becasue my TV said it picked up a new signal one day when i turned it on! Leroy |

| Premium Member | leroypatrol, thats understandable when its a community setup which is the only way we will get any coverage here as we are not a big enough area to interest the major channels. I have been dropping broad hints around here to those who get any reception that eventually the analog service will be turned off but its like water off a ducks back to spur them on. BUT you can bet your best pair of purple garfield boxers that when the channels do go, there will be all yowling and howling and protests about having no TV. Personal observation has convinced me that those who will be the loudest complainers are those who 'Never Watch TV', 'I would rather read a good book' etc. Its funny how those who never watch TV know more of what programs are on than I do and I have square eyes !!!!! |

| Member | Thank you for that information I do occasionally lurk around that forum and find that there are some interesting contributions except sometimes the data is too much to absorb in one sitting. Not intending to pour cold water on your contribution. Since the dba.org site disappeared there are not many places where reliable information (not that it was all that accurate anyway) about transmitter start up dates can be obtained unless you have the inclination to troll through the acma database on a regular basis. |
