    7HD and 9HD are both dead.

    Replaced by 7MATE and GEM HD respectively.

    Yes, you can now watch 40-50 year old programs in HD instead of things like sport

    After that last few posts about 7HD....Could somebody tell me what century we are living in??? ...No wonder people are watching pay tv more often now if that is what we have to put up with on free to air...

    This has become an absolute joke, no wonder I now get my programs via the net, HD and no commercials. All the FTA Channels are doing, is driving people to Subscription television and IPTV..

    I thought the FTA high def channels were required by law to broadcast a minimum no of hours in high definition per week. Showing a host of standard def (in most cases old analogues in 4:3 asepct ratio) programs over a 1080i transmission does not, in my view meet this requirement. Every body knows that digital standards mandate that in order to meet the HD standard a program has to be both produced and broadcast in high def. .

    I agree with the other contributors; the whole FTA tv thing has been turned on its head; largely by greedy voracious commercial broadcasters desperately trying to outdoo each other through additional programming. Its bloody well time for Conroy to step up to the plate.

    The FTA broadcasters must think we are all dummies.

    Seven Network

    Today on Seven Mate HD we have very ordinary shows from the 70's, 80's and 90's like
    Knight Rider
    A Team
    Magnum PI...

    While on Seven SD we have our V8 adrenaline fix of Holden vs Ford.

    Nine Network

    Today on GEM HD we have
    1946 Courage of Lassie;
    1961 Don't Bother to Knock;
    1956 Loser Takes It All;
    1961 Bachelor in Paradise;
    1960 The Time Machine...

    While Nine SD we have Sunrise, Sports, Marathons, Documentaries, Survivor, Scenic Tours...

    Bugger being on night shift, I would’ve had some “mates” over for beers and bbq with TV tuned to V8s on SD channel.

    Just imagine if I changed to a HD channel to watch Magnum PI and the A-Team, those mates would leave before the bbq plate was hot.

    I think the Seven Network need to consider using an Australian dictionary when seeking the definition of "Mate".
    TV ratings season must be at a close, as apart from ONEHD, all other FTA broadcasters’ priorities are to annoy their viewers.

    It's an annual quota that the networks have to meet.

    Yeah, even my mates over in the US were watching some sort of online feed and were informing me of what was going on. F1 is on now, hopefully this is 'really' live on OneHD and don't get spoiled twice in 1 day heh.

    I believe it was more entertaining to watch the old continuous WIN & TEN demo loops of Stream Trains, Nature Scenery and other HiDef Fillers than the crap that has been dished up lately.

    The old 60's/70's/80's/90's programing have their place and it's not FTA HD! That's why we have PAY-TV, DVDs and downloads!!
