![]() | Digital interferance on ABC? 2 channels, analog or digital can not live in the same space If (for example) your ABC is in CH37UHF, and you have a VCR or Sat box etc with a modulator, and it outputs on 36, 37 or 38, and that modulator loops through to your DVX555U, then you would get digital breakup.....

SO wot u say above is what is making the noise? Causing ABC pixelating issues? Or both? Why does ABC only pixelate with HDD connected? Cheers | |

| Senior Member | Maybe the extra electrical noise freaks out that particular channel? On my PVR's, the very slight whistline/humming noise is the HDD spinning.

| Member | Fernbay's on the money. It is a power supply issue, the hard drive is loading it more and causing spurious effects. The ABC problem could be caused by the generation of interfering signals arising from plugging the hard drive in, which is why another hard drive may work fine. There is something to be said for getting an off the shelf item, although even these can be plagued with there own idiosyncracies. The whistling is most likely coming from the power supply, they normally operate in the inaudible range unless overloaded or faulty. There again, it might be tinnitus - it can get worse after a few drinks. ![]() |
