Default Satellites.xml changes with PLI image

I am trying to update the Satellites.xml file in my dm7000 share/tuxbox location to get Sateliites and transponders in the right place.

It seems like I can not do anything with this because my permissions are not good enough??? I am using the std root / dreambox and did not think this would be a problem.

I have tried via an ftp program and via telnet

    Any ideas?

You can just do it with the remote control and a beer

Or use a more serious FTP editing proggy like UltraEdit32.... and a beer

Try Dreambox control centre (2.95 is the latest) navigate to var/etc/ in the ftp window. upload your new sats.xml there and reboot

    Now rescan channels

    cheers

Thanks for the replies but there has to be more to this.

I have used Ultra Edit, telnet, and Cuteftp.

They all do not allow me to change the permissions of the original file so i can transfer the correct satellites.xml file??

It might be something simple... it is giving me the shits.

A few beers have not helped either ...except for getting me a bit more roudy with the missus

It's not anything simple mate, it's exactly the same for all of us

Has been like it for 5 years with some images
There are manual cut/paste ways around it.... but for me and after years of trying all soughts of things. I just get fast on the remote control. By the time you have piss farted around trying other methods, you would of had it done and be watching TV just by using the remote.

Agreed - I must say I have not had this problem with Gemini Images in the past.

There must be a reason behind this. I will revert to the remote if necessary however I am sure some will have found this problem before. It has to be a permission or a process running with this file which stops me doing the file transfer

Thats right..... and even giving it a 777 will not change it.

Some images let you edit or copy/replace the sat.xml.... others do not.
Yes it is a major pain in the ass....

But if i remember correctly, you can load on Gemini in the flash, then use a USB stick to mount all your other images, then when you flick from image to image, all the new images keep the flash images settings.
Not 100% as i haven't done that in a while now. But it works more or less like that.

Have you tried uploading a file from Dreamset over the top?
I just keep all my settings in Dreamset now, then up load it on what ever image i use. One step and everything is done like new
