Default Need Help with Dreambox 7020 ip address Pls

    Hi,

I was trying to change my network settings in my dreambox 7020 via the
" Dreambox ADVANCED SETUP UTILITY" and
during the Telnet session I ‘accidentaly’ changed the network settings in the Advanced section from dhcp to ‘disabled’ and then closed my session, now am not able to connect to the Dreambox at all .

When I press and hold the "Down " button and turn on the Dreambox , the LCD screen displays the word "STOP" but no ip address ,repeat no ip address is displayed.

Am really stuck. Can anyone please urgently help me detailing in a step wise fashion what to do to be able again get the ip address of my dream box.

    TIA

Is there no image on your box? You can go into the Expert Setup and Communication Setup menus and change you IP address there.

    Thks your reply

There is an image in my dreambox . Howevere, am not talking about the ip address found in the expert setup of the dreambox, rather am talking about the ip address for the dreambox to get access via the internet browser to the dreambox bootloader page where you can find the network setup in a page called " Dreambox ADVANCED SETUP UTILITY".

Usually this ip address is obtained
When I press and hold the "Down " channel button and turn on the Dreambox , the LCD screen displays the word "STOP" and an no ip address.

In my case when I do that I can't get an ip address

i think if you reflash with dreamup and a null modem lead it might renew ALL these settings, or you could try just flashing a boot loader via dreamup and null modem cable

go to stop mode as your normally do
use DCC to do a network search (click on search)
You should see it on the LAN as DM7020
Use the IP address shown in DCC in your web browser

    Good luck

by reading what unisat has done
he has disabled IP (no dhcp or fixed) in stop mode
this at bios or bootloader stage
I would tend to agree with digidudes assessment

If hooked to router set router to DHCP then look in router for it's ip address that is connected.

the point is by setting IP to disabled it is not DHCP - therefore it does not get an address - therefore there is nothing in the router set-up of DHCP leases

Frank might be onto something - why not go back to the Dreambox ADVANCED SETUP UTILITY via a serial connection and hyperterminal

other than that reflash - definitely - jtag - hopefully not

out of interest how do you get to the Dreambox ADVANCED SETUP UTILITY via telnet on network - seems to be a serial connection is required ?

Your solution is good for the metter. I also have no caracter display on my DB 7020 so I can not see the IP. Still, it would take a long time to scan the range normally used for Dreambox which is 192.168.xxx.xxx. And by the way, is this IP changing or is fixed?

Speaking of LCD display, my db display a darker filled rectangle instaed of any caracters ever. I have original firmware.Any sugestions? Thank you

The 7020 doesn't have an inbuilt ADSL modem. If you have a modem with extra ethernet ports you can plug the dreambox into this and configure with an IP address in the communications menu with an IP on you subnet.
