newcamd and a ppua file. It's the way of the future.....or for at least another 5 months

I am having trouble getting a Goldie working in a DM500 - I also want it to auto update.
Now I know this should be easy. Using a PLI image and also keeping it simple e.g. with CCcam (1.71) on the internal slot.
I know the box is reading the card as I can see the card details in the 16001 ccam info web page.
Also tried the same setup in my DM7000 - same problem.
The card is OK.... I can stick it in the hummy and it works fine.
Any one had this experience - this should be an easy one

Cmon now - I like the idea of a Goldie as I do not have to frig around with files.
I am always changing images and changing files and so I would like to feel safe knowing that I can insert the Goldie into the slot and let it do it's thing like what when it is placed in the Hummy.
I noticed that my Select Sub works fine in the DM7000 internal slot - would have thought this would have worked also for the Goldie as well.....
It's one file and it updates. What more could you want? Easily setup.

double check card details........it should work fine....with correct details & transponder
Auto roll is the way to go with the correct details. Just did 2 dm500s and the wife is happy now as she can watch fox$$$ & Aurora on the one box with newcamd and a ppua file.
Works great.
Just got into getting a dreambox the way to go.
I think you will find that they do not work in the dm500 slot
Reality is an invention of my imagination.

IIRC, when the DM7000 first hit the country (yes, I've had one that long) there were issues with wafers of ANY description in the slots. They could overheat and damage the card AND the reader. So, I've never put one in either the 7000 or 500s.
My memry fades but I think that is correct.
Cheers

The fact that there's a highway to hell and a stairway to heaven says a lot about the anticipated traffic flow.
Yes sounds right, i was looking into getting one years ago when they first came out and what stopped me getting into them was cards getting cooked in the slot or readers failing being posted all over the forums back then.
So no your memory is not fading....yet.

Is your goldie one of those new white coloured cards?
I'm sure that in cases when gold or silver overheat it's been because the Dreambox software looked at the card's ATR and decided to clock the card at an excessive frequency for some reason (such as ). That's the only reason I can think of for a goldie to overheat in a Dream.
Using a goldie in an external Phoenix at 3.58 or 6MHz certainly won't have the overheating problem, but it's a matter of selecting a softcam/cardserver that properly supports Irdeto 1 EMMs to Phoenix. I'm not sure which ones do, but obviously there are plenty that don't. That's been the trouble where people have used goldies or keys successfully with softcams for ages but they've stopped working when PMKs start rolling. No doubt someone here can advise on which ones work.
Seriously, as Sasho said, running keys with newcamd in ppua is the way to go I think. If your goldie was made using GhostGold you can read the HMK & HSN out of your goldie using LMEdit or GGedit in just a couple of clicks. Once properly configured you'll find it's more reliable than using a Goldie externally.
Its just that the only people who seem to be getting their gold cards to work in a dm500 are the ones using original gold cards manufactured late 90s early 00s. Not the new ones.... food for thought.
Just following and reporting with my findings.
OK - I can get the Goldie to work in the internal slot.
Only issue is that it will not update, so eventually (and usually not long) you need to put it in a box like a hummy for the updates.
Yes I know using internal files on the dream will work, but this is not what I am looking for.
I like the idea of using the Goldie in the DM500 hardware - like when it is in use with the Hummy.
I notice that I can use Grey wolf and a Hummy with a BF unit to run and update the Goldie. The DM500 can then connect to GW and Goldie no worries as well.
In summary it seems the DM500 with a Goldie (internal or external reader) will not work as a general setup.
Final comments anyone ?
