Hi Folks been trawling the posts for a few days now have to say mighty impressed with some of the electronic modifications to the dreamies you have put up
My problem is that the network connection on my 7020s keeps dropping off unplug the network cable plug back in again and everything is fine 30 seconds later network drops and I notice the network card transmit neons go out and so on so really all its good for at the moment is a standard digital receiver
This gets me thinking there might be a faulty capacitor of some sorts I have looked around and found a mod which helps the speed of the network connection to improve video streaming but can find nothing on this fault
Does anyone have a diagram or has come across this before?
By the way I did modify the card slot to drop it to 3v as some of the european n d s cards get burnt at the default 5.2v readers in dreamies I beleive the NZ n d s cards do as well anyway the 3v mod works a treat I can post the diagram if anyone wants it?
Thanks in advance

possible you have a dry joint?? i had a dm500 clone with a similar problem lucky for me it was dry joint on one of sm capacitors got the gas tourch out and resolder the joint arount the network chip and fixed the problem
How old is it? Maybe dried out caps/resistors gone high in the power supply
Hi thanks for the replies I would say its about 5 years old 4 at least it was one of the first models to be released after the 7000
Based on your replies should I take it that its not the network issue that was experienced with these boxes and its a case of determining the dry joint or like you say dried out capcitors
I dont have any specialist equipment other than a temprature controlled soldering iron
Should I talke this to an electronics geek or is there a way of tracing the fault?
Incidentaly I also have a fully working 7020s to compare against but would not know where to start in terms of diagnosing the fault

My Dm7020s had the exact same fault about 12 months after i purchased it.
Like yours it was a First Generation Model aswell.
Back then, it was discovered by many users to be a common fault with the 7020s that Dream wouldnt honour to sort out (Frikkin Dirtbags!)
There is a fix for it, basically replacing two onboard SMD Capacitors with two Tantalum Caps.
Performing the fix takes about 10 mins in total, and reinstates network capabilities.
I'm not sure if the info would still be available at Austech, due to there crash a while back.. Id say that the info would be available via other Sites though.
All the best mate.
Cheers:
Also check there are no other DM's on your network with the same MAC addy or the same log in details
