Yes, you need to call them up and they will hit the card. Tell them the box got unplugged by mistake, you tried to get it going blah blah blah and they will fix it while you are on the phone.
Hi all, came back from work & noticed fuxtel wasn't working on the dreambox.
Fiddled with the dreambox & decided to put the orange card back in the fuxtel box. Then saw an error messsage " this is not the correct smartcard for this set top box please insert the correct smartcard"
This can't be right. Anyone seen this message before or knows how fix it
thanks
ALL GOOD AGAIN

Can somebody explain why does the box behave as such?
Because your entitlements on the card expired.
Use the box to list the entitlements. It will show an expiry date with a time in UTC. On that date at 10am AEST the entitlements will be flushed from your card as well as the boxkey pairing value.
If the box you're using can't update the entitlements (few can other than the original supplied STB) then you have to put it back in the original box no later than ~24 hours or so before the expiry date.

If Newcs dispays the Entitlements as
Provider | Expiry date | Expiry time |
|----------|-------------|-------------|
| 0XXX | 2007-05-05 | 00:00:00 |
does this mean one should place the card back in the original STB for 24hrs on may the 5th 2010
also 2007 has passed, shouldnt the Entitlements be gone.
Cheers

VNBOOST:
yes you will need you put your card in a day or 2 before the 5/5 so it updates un like me where i forgot and had to ring fox to send me updates and remary the card to the box.
from other forum posts the year doesn't matter it's just the day and month.
Cool cool, i had a feeling i would have to do that, are there any cams that auto update?
not that i'm aware of unless OScam does it now?
so how does this differ from a blue card? If this is the case , wouldnt it be strange that foxtel would get a high influx of calls from customes to re-hit the card on the expiry day? I dont mean that everybody is using non provider boxes , just the same people would be ringing up yea?
Does anybody accually know how often the update are sent after the entitlements expire , or is this just a guessing game?

I had a Blue Foxtel card stop working in a third party STB recently, (at about 9am)
I put it back in the provider STB & it got pics again at about 8pm that night,
I don't know if this a typical time period, to wait for an update or not.

The card will update days prior to your expire date. I usually bang mine in about a week before. What I have also noticed is not all update (Diff packages) at the same time. I have premium and about a dozen packages etc. Now if I bang the card in for an hour or so, I might get 2 or 3 packages that update. If I leave a little longer, more will update. last night I left it in overnight and all updated for another 3 months. I;ve noticed around 9am-midday and early evening tends to give me the most hits. Overnight is the best. I go for the overnight and just close my eyes and pretend I'm watching foxtel. It works, try it!

thanks saint i hope that helps me in the future, i have a couple of family members that i have setup with dm's to have an extra box in the lounge or bedroom that i maintain for them, so i'll have to set them up so its easy for them to change the cards over a couple of days before and swap back after the update
Regarding the expiry dates, the month and day are correct, but the expiry date year field is always 3 years in the past so just remember to add 3 years to each of the entitlements.
The expiry time is in UTC so normally they will expire at 10am AEST or 11am ADST.
You need to update your card well before that time as the group updates for your card are only sent in full every few hours. Ideally you should leave your card in a 3rd party box that updates the card constantly so there is no need to put it back in the provider box, but if you don't have a box that updates then aim to put it back in during the week before the earliest entitlement expires.
All the entitlements for the SD platinum package (id's: 0033 through 007f) should all give an expiry date that is approx 8 weeks max in the future. The HD entitlements 0400 & 0404 should give a date around 6 to 7 weeks in the future when updated. However, don't assume that if you put in your card that it will give 8 weeks extra. The expiry dates only change once every 1-2 weeks so if you're putting the card in the box at random once a month or so you could get lucky and get 8 weeks or as little as just over 5 weeks.
The olympics used 0fff and will most likely be re-used for the next comm games. Box office uses very high entitlement values with a non-zero high octet value, e.g. 9B02 etc and the expiry date for those can be many weeks in the future (even with an invalid date number of 40 etc) but that is irrelevant as the channel encryption changes after 6am every day to make your entitlement invalid.
Also, if you're still using crappy NewCS rather than OScam you'll discover that you can't view channels that have a non-zero first byte entitlement number (due to flawed processing of the shorter ECM packet format that was rolled out mid way through last year to reduce ECM response times). So NewCS won't work with HD, Box office, olympics/commgames, Setanta etc. Although that only applies to the orange card ECM stream which is different to the blue card ECM stream.
only have a blue in my dm800, so might have to try oscam i CBF putting card in original STB every 8 weeks or so
Thanks all

This thread has enlightened me a lot! thank u all. I was wondering why my orange card had entitlements @ 2007-12-26 (and 2007-12-24 for HD channels).
I'm not entirely sure if i have setup my system for entitlement updates, but i haven't put it back in the box for about 4 weeks. So does that mean my system is updating itself considering how far away the entitlement dates are?
My setup:
dedicated linux cardserver with smargo (been great so far, no glitching)
dm500 with mgcamd 1.35a - AU enabled for updates (i hope)
ultraplus 980HD using newcamd (XcamClient).
Also when i goto a channel on my dm500 that i'm not subscribed to i get EMMs sent to the card. So i should assume its all working?
I can post my configs i guess. but they're almost identical to the ones here:
The base year for orange cards is 3 years behind that of blue cards so the year is always 3 years out but the day and month are correct.
All updated entitlements are extended out to a maximum of 60 days every 20 days, so as long as your entitlements are being updated the expiry date should be a minimum of 40 days to a maximum of 60 days into the future.
Thanks for that, so basically if i start to creep towards my expiry date (say within 25 days or so i should chuck it back into my IQ2?
Weird thing is I haven't noticed my logs showing the updates (not that i have been actively looking, only for the last 2 weeks or so).
Thanks again.
EDIT: So the last expiry update must have been in the last week or so? around the 26th or 27thof october?

Yep, as long as both groups of entitlements stay at least 40 days out minimum then they are being updated. The (0400 & 0404) group update 10 days out of sequence with the others but all should stay in the 40-60 day period.
Your logs will show every 10 days that one of the two groups will update and list all entitlements in your logs. Search for the "tier" word using grep etc.
