    Default bluey to orange

    Hi Guys,

Is it a good move to upgrade bluey to orange to get HD channels?
I currently have lunux+smago+blue with couple of DM500 and DM800 clients in my house working perfectly.

Am I going to create extra problems for my self by upgrading to orange?

I know how to do that, I'm asking this question from a day to day operation prospective. Is there any extra hassles ?

No extra hassles. I'm running oscam (linux)+smago+orange. No problems at all. As mentioned, add your boxkey to your config, and change caid from 096b to 096c.

Will a bluey work on a DM500 configured for orange card?

I have got my orange card working in my dm500s, however the blue card that was previously working is no longer working.

I added line in cccam config file for boxkey details, is there something else i need to do?

No. I used an orange for months in my Dream then decided to use blue (I missed my iQ ). It wouldn't work unless I removed the boxkey and changed the CAID.

What you should do is make 2 configs and save them locally somewhere. One for bluey, one for orange. When you want to change cards, pre-load the correct config.

you could have set up a network share and used the Dream to record to the shared drive on a PC

I also use a DM800 to record free-to-air, so I'm aware of the possibilities with recording. I just find the iQ to be best for recording Foxtel stuff - mostly due to the dual tuner. Less clashes and more stable.

One day I'll get hold of one of those. But for now, the iQ works wonders for me and everyone here. I think it's just the ease of use, the stability of the OS, the remote layout, interactive functions. The Dreamboxes and linux OS's in general are also good, but we know the limitations. Only in the last couple of years we've had a working 7-day EPG. It's getting there, but not just yet. It's still a sat geek box, not a universally friendly box purely based on ease-of-use and simplicity.
