Hi Forum members,
I just acquired a dreambox DM500S. I have a wires router but this is located far away from the place where I wish to place the dreambox. Instead of wiring from the router to the receiver, I thought of using a wifi bridge. Does anyone on the forum know whether Vonets WIFI Bridge of the Model VAP11G, can be the solution instead of the wire?

Check out these
They can be powered directly from a DM518 or DM800 no additional power sources required.

Works well with a Dm500
Hi, excuse my ignorance. I'm not very technically inclined. Still on the Vonets Wifi bridge for dreambox DM500S. I read somewhere that one should install the CONFIGURATOR software. Anyone knows what this means and how this is done? Where does one install this configurator software?
the wireless adapter works ok, but nothing can replace the reliability of a hardwired connection. Depending upon how far away you are located and the density of your walls, it may not work that well
In terms of the configuration software, you need to install it on your PC to configure the VONETS unit with the details needed to conenct to the wireless router. It's very simple to do
XCRUISER HDSR600HD twin sat and terrestrial receiver $OOS *
XCRUISER HDSR385 Avant - sold out$OOS UltraPlus DVB-T and DVB-S2 tuners $49 Remotes $OOS
I've swapped a lot of my wifi stuff out for these Netcomm Powerline thingys.
Uses the electricity wires to create a network between two points. I don't know how it would go for recording but the speeds I'm getting streaming DVD's over the network is much faster and there aren't any dropouts when the microwave gets turned on.
Bit pricey new though. I picked up three for just over $100 on eBay, second hand, but they seem to go for about $70 each normally.
