I have got a used Dreambox 500 S which I got for free and now I am wondering if it is possible to play some .avi files I have on my NAS using this DB
What software should be installed on the DB and how to configure it?

I don't know if it was just luck or what but after I activated the NFS service on my NAS I got access to the folder from my DB 500
But now I have to figure out which files can be played on the box.
The test .avi file I put there isn't shown om the list so I guess that is no valid format
You'll need to look at streaming them to your DM500 using VLC.
