DM8000 Prefered Image

Hi there.

Just a quik question.

For all those Dm8000 users out there, what image are users finding preferable, what features stand out and work well.

Using latest Gemini release on my Dm8000, and was thinking of doing a bit of experimentation, but thought to save time, best i ask for a general opinion.

Comments on PVR functionality etc would be brilliant.

Also, has anyone here installed an onboard Bluray player/DVD drive ?.

All comments would be great !.

I have my DM8000 since a year and a half and I am very happy with it!

I have tried Gemini, LT (get it here ), Ozoon (get it here ), Pli (get it here ) and some other firmwares.

They are all very good and stable FW and it is a matter of personal taste which one you prefer. I like Pli very much and I will leave it on the DM8000, because the family doesn't want too much changes.

A don't have a blueray player, maybe I'll try that one day. . . .

I have mine for two years in September.
Tried some images and EVERY time came back to OpenPLi. Super good suport on PLi forum also jonc around here who's been of a great help. Nice image, very solid and easy to work with. Great skins, too. I guess you have to see it yourself first.

PVR? Nothing better than have a 2TB HDD where you can have lots of DVD movies ripped off and cartoons for the little one. And also used as a back up HDD for my photos lol! With quad tunners I was doing some tests and have 9 recordings going on in the same time. Your mileage might vary ofcourse.

Haven't got the DVD player installed. BluRay?? Not sure if dm8000 supports!

I have a clone from China with a 2GB HDD which I am very happy with. It came with Gemini pre-installed which I have not bothered changing at this stage because it simply works. I have heard good things about many other images including PLI. Newnigma2 and Nabilosat and would like to try some other images when I get the time.

I seriously doubt that you'd be able to FIND a 2gb hdd these days, & you certainly couldn't have LOTS of stuff on one if you could.

Running Domica on my clone, seems pretty good. Check out this site for clone suitable firmware
Haven't gotten as far as to installing HD or disc drive yet.
Would like to know too if bluray players would work in these?
