Anyone got the DVR function working smoothly in the DM500.
I am using CIFS with extra options of "rsize=8192,wsize=8192"
The playback pixilates about every 15 seconds. I am looking to get flawless recording. Anyone else got it working well ?

Same here.. I use smbfs. I also have your settings and it pixilates alot for me also. Is there some way to test the network on the dreambox so you can trouble shoot the problem?
i use the same settings and mine is perfect on all 4 500's and 7020
mount = 500gig hdd in a external usb2 case plugged into a p3 666 laptop with 256 ram and only used for the mount and GW
and everything is interconnected via a 32 port 10/100 hub
dont say linux if i wanted it id install it
@z80 - What image do you recommend ?
@fandtm666 - What image do you use ?
I am using the newest PLi-Iolite atm.
neutrino here
It is basic in the fact comes with one stock standard emu (mgcamd) but with a hack can add cccam but other than that it is limited to what extras can be installed. But i dont care about that all i wanted was a clean system that was easy to record and view. The mgcamd works perfectly for me in my cs as i use GW with a hummy in the mix

Get the streamts fix from bitcontrol and add it( i do it manually and not use the tarball)). It fixes the bug with the built it version. I have noticed though with Gemini 4.1 there is still a little pixellation but none worth worrying about. I always used 3.6 and it was perfect with the fix. I'll have a play tonight. I keep threatening to follow Fandtm666 and try neutrino. Hey Fandtm666 can you post what version of neutrino your using again?
dm500_n8plus_v2.03_20070306
it is the last version they put out and apparently they wont put out anymore due to infighting among the different groups, but for me it works and thats all i need to know.
MY moto if it aint broke dont f***k with it and that is the case with this image

@ Covert: Have you played with the rsize and wsize figures. I had the same problems until I played around with these values (in powers of 2) ie 1024, 2048, 4096, 8192 etc etc
As I am also using Vista. If you are, firstly there are various issues with vista networking due to its self-tuning-sliding-window. To turn it off for testing:
netsh interface tpc set global autotuning level=disabled
change disabled to normal to re-enable it if that doesn't fix you problem. Then play with the rsize and wsize.
