Default Best Image for DM7020?

Ok Ive installed Z80's image and fandtm666 image for the DM500 and they work really well.

I want to start messing with a DM7020 and was wondering what image is a good one to start with to do everything z80's image does (IE CS, channels scanned etc)?

Also, can I use the bouquets created on a DM500 and upload them to a DM7020 or would I have to create them again?

Thanks again guys

If you use flashwizard you can install 7000 images and 7020 images in multiboot and pick and choose the image.

If you know how to backup an entire dm7020 then I would love to hear how you do it...cause I can't find the info?

To the original question , I am running Gemini. The only problems I have are with it overheating on hot days due to the 400 gig hard drive in it. I will have to look at fitting some fans or maybe moving it in to a room closer to the air con as it is in the hottest end of the house.

Other than that , no problems

Try this works on everything and has the new CCcam 2.0.5 in the download / software management section

Sure can .. save your DM500 bouquets etc with dreamedit and write them back to your DM7020 - BUT make sure you are using the (1) the same image for the 7070 (2) the same satellites.xml as the 500 (copy from /var/etc on the 500) (3) the same satellite configuration as the 500

What is a hot day?

The average room temp here in Thailand is about 32 degrees all year round and they never get hot here (well hotter than the room temp).

Even the black coloured DM 600 runs cool.

Ok we also get in the high 40's for a month or so but I was referring to the year round average (Summer, Winter etc - or in our case dry and wet we rarely get much else). How hot is hot (the box that is)?

Hot enough that it wont boot the image. Its fine the rest of the year , it just cant cope with extremely hot days ( luckily we dont get many but had a bit of a bout of them ).

It wont boot the image , it just hangs. I have removed the hard drive on a hot day and its run fine , so I am confident it is heat related.

See

In all PLi images you can back up to USB (thumb) drive, Flash Memory, HDD or externally mounted device. Blue button, Backup/Restore

If you do it to flash mem or USB drive, your can use it to install any other DM7020 as well once it is flashed by flashup

The HD will be causing that problem, technically the HD should not pull anymore then 500ma in a dreambox, a 400 gig is probably pulling 750 to 850ma

So whats causing the heat build up then, the HD or the power supply?

Its only happened on 3 or 4 hot days so far and works faultlessly at all other times. Its nearly half full of movies and I havent had any problems with playback or recording on any of them.

On the 3-4 times it has done it it has been 38+ and it has got stuck at the same spot on bootup - on the Gemini enigma screen.

Put a heatsink on the 7812 regulator near the front of the machine in the power supply.

Or put in a higher rated regulator chip.

ok the $64,000 question is should I still go ahead and find a DM7020 or buy a DM600PVR instead. I want to record and use it as a server for my DM500's .. Can I have both - Seriously I need to choose one.

I have all three here and use the 7020 to serve the lot (6 x DM500 & 2 x DM600) - movies / mp3 / jpg / CS

I would go the 7020 based on a few negatives that I have read about the 600 , but I havent actually seen or used a 600 personally.

I am very happy with the 7020 , I also have 5 DM500 clones and satellite and network points to 7 locations in the house so its all fun

But I would be interested to hear what someone with a 600 has to say as I would be interested in hearing more about them.

Edit : Shit , everyone posted at once
