![]() | Hi all, I've got a problem with my Changhong N2918AU 68cm TV. It popped the line fuse overnight, and wouldn't turn on the following morning. Replacing the line fuse had the expected result - some functionality returned, but the TV still does not work. I can hear the relay opening and closing when the remote on/off button is pushed, so I know the IR remote receiver is working and the power supply to power it is fine. But otherwise, there's no vision, no sound, can't hear the 15kHz HT line osc power supply working either. I'm guessing there's a major part of the power supply not working. The good news is that its all conventional componentry (not that it matters, I can handle early generation SMD stuff just fine anyway) and I'm used to repairing smaller, less complex electronic gear... but never tackled TVs before. Does anyone know where I can find a schematic for the N2918AU... Google reveals lots of hits, but nothing useful to download. Probably equally as useful would be a general primer into TV repairs... ... if anyone has something good that they could point me towards, it would save this behemoth of a TV from becoming landfill. |

| Senior Member | I think your TV may be a KONKA They have a similar sounding model. What I normally do is find out the Part Number and Position Number of the Horizontal Output transistor. Then I put those numbers into my GOOGLE Search. For example I would put Q502 and 2sD2553, You'll have to Open the telly up of course and have a look at the writing on the transistor and on the board beside the transistor to find YOUR Numbers. |

![]() | I can't complain actually - I got the TV in about 1998, and bought home to a house of heavy TV watchers (not me BTW). It must have spent at least 8, more like 12 hours a day, every day, switched on and providing great service. Thats around 36000 hours of work! I see an LG picture tube lives inside it, and that Sichuan Changhong is the third largest electronics maker in China... Anyway, thanks for the suggestions so far, I'll give them a try. |

| Senior Member | Mate.... you have got your moneys worth by the sounds ![]() To be perfectly honest mitaux8030, with the current release of flat panel displays, older model CRT TV's go for a song.... the idea of fixing one is now not as appealing as it once was.... and fixing an Asian (clone/import/whatever) would be even less appealing. Sure, if you can fix it yourself, great ![]() Good Luck ![]() |
