Does it have a LG dvd drive in it ????
Is the unit in a well ventilated area to keep it cool ???

Chuck a disc in with the top cover removed.
Give us a report on what happens.
Does the disc spin?
Does the video-tape part of the Unit work normallly?

I think I've only managed to repair 1 out of 8 tries at those Combo Units.

Sounds like either a faulty DVD drive, or crook power supply caps
