![]() | A client of mine has a Loewe Arcada 8684 zp. When trying to turn the set on it won't start and beeps 12 times and repeats this over and over again. Can anyone tell me the significance of the 12 beeps. |

![]() | Mate these things chew through line output transformers. I'm only going on job history, no mention of 12 beeps, but if you inspect the transformer at start up, you should see some activity, especially in the dark. Maybe it will go POW and scare the crap out of you. Give it a go and if you need part #, let me know. ![]() |

![]() | Or its probably shorted the line output transistor as well. Check for short, if so order two, cause when it starts it may arc and take out the transistor again. Or replace both as good measure anyway cause transformer is only $37-00 and a known problem..... |

![]() | Thanks for the quick reply and help walleroo. Its a little out of my league and i have too much worked booked at the moment to give it a go so i will let the client book a service call with the local agent. I saw the set a week ago and even after 8 years it still produces a brilliant picture so it is worth repairing. The only work done to it was a year ago with the loewe recall, other than that it has been faultless. |

![]() | Fault turned out to be a transistor and a capacitor in the horizontal according to the service docket. Cost the client 240.00 to get fixed. |

![]() | yeh well , pickup and del, bench time, examine lopt for melts etc.. i can see thats reasonable. gotta keep the lights on and the bills paid. hope the lopt doesnt have a internal failure. usually they show an obvious bulge or hole where they have failed. takes out the horizontal output. dont they use a 1310 or similar? expensive transistor. $240 seems ok cheers
