Default LG RT39NZ40RB Rear pro - Help required - Convergance prob.

Hi guys.

I'm looking for some help with an LG RT39NZ40RB Rear projection TV

Convergance blocks have been change, but auto convergance does not work.
A message comes up on the screen saying "Please ensure lights are dimmed" & the message comes up even when the room is fully darkened.

The service manual says the convergence can be set up manualy, except that the remote dosen't have the critical "SVC" button required to get to that screen.

OK + OK gets it into normal service mode, but not the convergence menu.

Does anyone know how to force it into convergance mode?

Failing that, does anyone here have a convergance module availible from a wrecked set?

I think the digital convergance board might be faulty & need replacing.

Pics follow

TIA fellas

service mode

Hold the ok button on the TV and push the OK button on the remote
and then I get the menu looking thing
And then push the sleep button on the remote

You can use the teletext button M instead of sleep button
And better still you need to have a input signal for it to work

Sounds like module.Try to rescue the eeproms off the old module if possible , as a full set up takes a long while.
Getting it to save to AC can be a nightmare .(things the manual dont tell you )
Tony from IWAC was the biggest help on these.
We got one in here at present if it can help.
Cheers

hi ferny,
ha, got one sitting right next to me as was looking for the datasheet for the stk's

Mate did you get one of the LG alinment tools "service remote" did you?
(just saw the little bugger in the pix)
your right, it could be the digital pcb, did as oscar adv did you remove the old eeproms from the old pcb (PAL1, PAL2, NTSC1, NTSC2) and put them in the new digital control pcb, otherwise the one i have here only has 1 faulty STK in it

Yep, but by the looks of it it's for DLP - I couldn't get it to do anything to this rear pro

yeah thats the one i've got, mate have you actually swapped the eeproms as the conv program when it starts looks at the original settings, so if your eeprom is stuffed (any one) then it wont get the data it needs to start, if after you swap the eeproms and the prob still exists, it got to be the digital pcb is faulty!
have you tried an "in-stop" reset?
do you have another digital pcb to try, or try just about any eeprom?

The one we have has a pinhole in an ultor cable.
Once thats done you are welcome to try whatever.
The way it says about ambient light , it may have a crook sensor.
The one we had needed a full setup , and if it wasnt for help on here we wouldnt have got it done.
What was going on was all the convergence on the screen was fine , but just outside the screen where you cant see its not right and thats where the sensors are.
Result is you have a nice converged picture but it wont save to auto because it is not good where the sensors are.
The LG manuals dont help at all
