Default Need some help finding a transistor.

Hello all, I go by the name of Chesso.

I am quite new to working with electronics, so the information I have for the problem is not very well understood by me personally lol.

My missus father (who is not too computer savvy) is trying to repair an inter comm set (one is working, the other is not quite so well) due to 2 blown transistors at this point.

He managed to find a working replacement, but needs another one and he cannot find anything in his JayCar and various other electronic catalogues.

This is the only information I have to work with:

    Code:

    8050
    S8050
    8050D

    Package type T0-92

Apparently this transistor is probably made somewhere foreign to Australia and bears a mark that is not in any catalogues we have, so I am trying to help him find an equivalent for it.

I don't suppose any smart cookies on here would have a clue what might be a good replacement, or somewhere I might find more information?

    G'Day,
These are replacements for the complementary pair SS8050/SS8550.
BC139/BC140. Pin out is E-C-B instead of E-B-C. Should not be foo hard to cross the C & B leads over. Recommend you replace as a pair.
Available at DSE for 60 cents ea. Cat No Z1389/Z1388.

Kindest Regards, " The Druid ".............

ok, a 8050 is a npn not pnp, the 8550 is a pnp

the 8050 in the to92a package is CBE looking from the front.

replacing the 8050 use a 2sd669a configuration is ECB looking from front

replacing the 8550 use a 2sb649a configuration is ECB looking from front.

if there is a problem, look elsewhere in the circuit.

    Default 8050 Transistor

You can purchase these transistors from this company.

They are not listed in their catalogue but they do have them. You can check by looking in - Technology Kits - Advanced level kits - Open the Teaching Unit instructions and look at the parts list for either the Wanderer or Seeker. I have purchased replacement ones from them. Let me know how you go.
