Default ALDI Vivid Universal Remote and Dreambox

I bought one of these remotes from Aldi and have had no problems programming items except for my DM7020 Dreambox. Has anyone had any success ? It wont even accept direct learning ( end to end ) from the Dreambox remote but will with every other remote.

Other than that , these are a bargain @ $19.95

( I have posted this in Electronics as I know there are many TV tech heads in here with an expiring redirect to the Dreambox forum )

Default Same for my Soniq STB

    Hi,

I bought the same remote from ALDI. It's a shame that its "learning" function is not a true learning function, it just guesses from reading the power button from the other remote. Then again it's only $20.

I have a Soniq STB and while I can switch it on and off with (oddly) the 1 and 2 numeric buttons, nothing else works. Soniq is not even listed in their codes guide.

Anyone know other names Soniq might use?

The learning function works fine with any other remote , I have used it for my TV and Amp which work great with it. But it will not learn from any Dreambox remote I have tried ( 7020 and 500 ) and I dont get any response via the other search method either.

    Default Worked it out...

After hours of fiddling, I have worked it out!

The manual is wrong regarding the learning function. They indicate that you only press the POWER button on the old remote to learn codes from it.
You can make the remote learn the button function of any remote's *individual* button.

I managed to get my Universal remote to work by not selecting any particular code at all, but then individually programming each button to copy the Soniq remote's same button.

    Here's how you do it:
    (on the Vivid remote)
    1. Hold the relevant device type button (TV, DVD, AUX) down for 3 secs or until the keypad lights up, then let go.
    2. Press Record
    3. Press the button you wish to clone on to (i.e: Channel UP, or Menu etc)

(on the remote to clone from) This is the part that is wrong in the manual
    4. Hold the old remote up to the Vivid one and press and hold the button to clone (i.e: Channel UP, or Menu etc) until the Vivid remote flashes the red LED slowly 4 times.
    5. It the remote fails to record and flashes quickly, just repeat the record process. Sometimes it just screws up.

    (on the Vivid remote)
    6. Press Exit.
    7. Repeat steps 1 to 6 for EVERY button you want the Vivid remote to learn.

I now have all functions on the Soniq set top box working from the Vivid remote even though NONE of the codes I tried worked.

    Hope that this helps someone.

    As above.

The problem with Dream remotes is that it will not learn from them AT ALL. You receive an error every time. This is not the case with any other remote control.

I bought this remote from Aldi today and have set it up to control Austar, it works great, but took a bit of stuffing around. This is how I got it to work for me:

I did the Auto code search (p20 in manual), waited until it found the code that turned the Austar box off (took a while), then quickly hit the pause button (I wasn't able to hit the SAT button fast enough before it went to the next code, this way works much better). Then I pressed the channel down button a few times to go back to the right code. Wait a few seconds before pressing it again, it is back to the right code when the Austar box turns back on. When the box turns back on, quickly press the SAT button to store the code.

This worked to turn the box on and off, but nothing else worked properly. The channel buttons all brought up Active or TV guide. So I did the learning procedure (p23) to program all the number buttons, the up/down/left/right and ok buttons as well as the vol and channel up/down. It took a while for each button but now it works great! Haven't set up other functions yet but that will do for now.

Hope this helps and sorry I don't have any advice for the original poster. I am having trouble setting up my DVD recorder (it only detects it as a DVD player and won't learn the record buttons), so I understand how frustrating it is to have it ALMOST perfect!

$140.00 Clipsal learning remote wont take codes either.
Nor will a cheap $50.00 unit i got from DSE.
My mates Logitech fandangle u buet do it all $800.00 unit works fine.
There was a thread on a European CS forum where many people were having Dream problems with Universal remotes.

Anyone else had any success with this remote to replace the foxtel remote.
Didnt really want to do the one function at a time learning.
It does have foxtel codes in the book but they dont seem to work.

Mine is the Tevion brand yours is the Vivid I think.
    Both sold by Aldi

Mine lists all 4 digit codes and I am fairly sure it works my Dreambox as well.

    Default Aldi universal Remote

Hey there I have also purchased the VIVID universal Remote & am expereincing programing problems.
I can get it to recognise my JVC TV but not my Aldi Bought VIVID Plasma TV
There is no hot code in the instruction manual for VIVID brand & it wont learn from the TV's remote or from the tv itself.
I have exchanged it for another one the same as i thought it might be faulty.
    Same problem.
    Has anyone had this problem?
    Any help would be appreciated.
