    Default Battery and Charger ratings

    Hi Guys,

I have a question about the r/c helicopters. I have a battery 7.4v 1500mah and the charger for it which is 7.4v 1000mah. The charger now doesn't charge the battery.

I think now I should buy one with a higher mAh rating like 1500 to 2000mah.

Do you think this is a good idea or should I just stick to the same values as the original.

I always thought it is best to go a bit higher so it doesn't overheat or go faulty.

The mAh rating of a charger doesn't really have much to do with that of the battery it's charging except that a lower rating on the charer will take longer to charge. IE: Your 1000 mAh charge will take 1.5hrs to charge your 1500 mAh battery. A 2000 mAh charger would charge the same battery in 45 minutes. The key rating is the voltage. You also need to ensure you have an appropriate charger for the type of battery in use, especially if you're using lipos.
