    Default LED's in a Fluro tube design?

    Has any seen a light the size of a Fluorescent tube but with LED's as the light source?
    To confuse this more it appears this tube has TWO rows of LED's, one white and the other Red...
    These were for sale at a local auction recently and according to my friend, the seller said they had been in a military warehouse and while this sounds rather odd, from what I can make of the story, the White LED's were the general lighting source and the Reds were wired separately to indicate specific areas of items stored.
    So if you were looking for a Tank or a Trenching Tool, the stores staff would flick the appropriate switch from a list and under the Red light area was your items.
    I know it sounds weird but it was the Military stores.
    According to my friend the 'tubes' have standard 2 pin fluro ends but are they 240V or something else.
    As far as I am aware, there were only the tubes on sale, no fittings.
    The seller wants $25 for a group of either 8 or 10 tubes and as my friend had spent what he had earlier, he didnt worry about them although like me he is very curious as to what they are.
    If they are 240V I could easily use a couple at least so any information would be appreciated.

    The LED tubes that are 240VAC have an integrated transformer.

    You can't use LED tubes as a direct replacement for traditional fluoros.

    You either buy a fitting specifically designed for the LED tubes, or remove the ballast and starters from the circuit of standard fluoro fittings.

    Thanks MTV, I suspected that would be the case because LED's dont need 'excitement' to work as a Fluorescent does.
    I am going to ask this anyway but what would happen if one of these LED/Fluro's was installed by someone unaware of the differences and thought it was a straight replacement for a normal Florescent tube or wont they fit for obvious safety reasons?

    They will fit... that's the idea of them, as a direct (physical, not electrical) replacement.

    I would imagine the ballast/starter configuration would damage an LED tube.
