    Default Samsung LA40F81BDX displays dark screen, no picture

    Hi Mick,

    Could you pls advise a Samsung LA40F81BDX displays dark screen, no picture and it appears there are some flickering horizontal lines,
    there is light in back light inverter, but there are no bulging/ blown caps in the power supply board.
    When you press the remote, the front LED flashes but you cannot turn the TV off.

    Do you know is this a PSU, Main board, T-con or Panel issue?

    Should I try replacing the caps in the PSU, thanks?

    Could be the eeprom it's marked as IC502 on the mainboard/tunerboard.

    What I would do is replaced the caps on the power supply marked, CS806, CM811, CM812, CM817, CM807 and CM808. Be careful whilst working with the power supply i.e. make sure the mains electro is discharged.

    Then carefully desolder and remove the eeprom and replace. The part number for the eeprom is 1103-001385.

    Hi Mick,

    Thanks for your advise, much appreciated!

    I have tested by swapping boards from another Samsung TV and have eliminated the PSU, Main board or T-con and concluded that it is a fault with the Panel.
