    Default soldering station 852+

    Hi there,

I recently bought one of these units through ebay (852+). The unit looks great but the soldering iron doesn't get hot enough to melt the solder. The air gun has no problem with it.

I have the temp at 400c and it doesn't get hot enough. Then I put it up to 480c and still the same. It does get hot but not enough for the solder.

Has anyone experienced this? Do you think it might need some adjustment within the unit? How would I measure the heat to see if it is truly 400c or 460c.

    Thanks,

    Arty

    do you mean this one

if so and the tip on the iron is not getting hot i would say that it is definitely faulty
and be getting on contact with the seller to discuss the issue.

if your readout is saying well over 230 then there is an issue

Here are a few melt/flow points for various solders, (and the flux does not matter for melting temp):

    Tin/lead

    60/40: 361-374°F.(183-190°C)
    50/50: 361-421°F.(183-216°C)
63/37: 361°F (183°C) Melts and flows at same temp.

    Lead free, Tin/silver

96/4: 430°F(221°C) Melts and flows same temp.
dont say linux if i wanted it id install it

Sorry I should of said that the air heater is fine and working. It is the soldering iron that is not heating enough for the solder to stick on the pcb.
The soldering iron just gets hot but not hot enough for the solder to melt onto the pcb.
