Soniq P50E11A-AU Plasma TV repair - more advice needed
Here is my original post: This TV has a Samsung panel (S50HW-YB06) and is worth fixing IMHO. The fault is 'no picture'. There is a faint flash on the screen on start up and then after 5 seconds the relays on the power board trip. The fault appears to be the power board (LJ44-00188A) because I cannot get a reading at the Vs and Va test points - and that's with all the looms disconnected except the standby connector where there is 5.3V. Can anyone tell me the most likely area to find the problem. All the caps look OK. Thank you.
Update: I finally obtained, and have just installed a brand-new power board (Payless Components, US). With the power looms to the X & Y sustain boards disconnected, and just CN801 (24 pin/8 wire) loom to tuner/interconnect board, and CN802 (6 wire loom) going to the logic board to enable boot-up, I get the correct Va and Vs readings momentarily, and then they gradually fade away to nothing. A green LED on the logic board continues to blink in 4sec on/1sec off intervals. I suspect a varistor is shutting the PS down. Faulty logic board?
TIA

You'll find the TV is in protection mode. I'd be checking the Xmain & Ymain and buffer boards for shorts. The blinks on the logic normally once per second or maybe a bit quicker.
2012 Samsung video.
I did a 42c451b2 which is the same era as this 50. bad x killed the y. needed both to get it going. buffer was ok not shorted. I've used payless, pretty good and where i got my recycled parts for that one too. i ordered x, y, y buffers at the time as was dirt cheap.
try searching the panel and board numbers to get equivalent samsung TV models and get some more hits on common failure.
Another good site is

You suspected the psu and replaced it. But still the same symptoms. Is this correct?. Wrong diagnostic. As TW2005 says remove X, Y, mains one at a time and check the vs.
