i would just use some double insulated fig.8 ie
I need to run approx 50 metres of cable from my water meter thru the garden and into the meter box to my Flukso energy monitoring system.
It will have an reed switch on the end operated by the magnet in the water meter.
Three possibilities of cable to use.
1. Cat 5, (maybe parallel up 2 pairs if required, what coloured ones no idea )
2. Aerial coax RG6
3. Flat pair.
Thoughts and ideas welcome
Baz

RG6 might sound a bit like overkill but if you have it just lying on the ground rodents or other critters will have a tough time chomping through it.
It might even survive a blunt garden spade.

Main problem on that lenght would be interference, so either use twisted wires or shielded cables.
Being outside I would select something proof to the enviroment and that rats or mice won't chew on.

Yes, I just need something that will let an on/off signal. Lowww speed thru. Looks like anything will probably do the job.
I have an old roll of RG6 and a roll of cat5 under the house somewhere. Ill dig them out to see if long enough. Only 5v applied.
Have a nice day
