    Default Palsonic TFTF3915FL

Just wondering if anyone has done one of these for power issues ?

Red light is on when mains is applied.
Blue light after pressing power button.
Nothing after that. No picture. No sound and it's stuck on blue until mains removed.

loopy, are the rails all coming out of the power supply, eg 24v 12v 5v, or just stndby 5v?
When I explained to the guy what avatar I wanted, that wasn't what I meant!

Checked the rails at the video board plugs and all voltages are there.
I suspect an 8 pin ic voltage controller on the video board as I have had trouble with similar before. This one's a AIC2857F. Hard to find info or where to buy it but here's a pic of the chip from.....

Standby (red) or TV on (blue), there's little difference in the voltages on that chip.

    ............red........... blue
    pin 1 ... 5.............. 5.7
    pin 2 ... 5.............. 5
    pin 3 ... 1.3........... 1.3
    pin 4 ... 0.............. 0
    pin 5 ... 0.9........... 0.9
    pin 6 ... 0.5........... 0.6
    pin 7 ... 5.............. 5
    pin 8 ... 4.1........... 4.1

Interesting to note : At one stage, while I was checking the voltage on pin 7, the TV suddenly sprang into life. Had a picture and a channel and an operational menu and prob all of the normal functions would have worked if I checked them all. Pretty sure I would have had sound too but the speakers were not plugged in.
Don't know if I accidentally shorted a pin to make this happen, and I think the TV was in standby mode (red) at the time can't remember, but I can't repeat it and of course I damn well never thought to measure the voltages while it was going.

Also, do you think this fault could be fixed by reinstalling the firmware ?
I have a copy of the firmware which has been referred to as an upgrade. Would it do any harm to try the upgrade ?

I figured it shouldn't hurt to try the update, so I went ahead and loaded it in.
    That fixed it.
    The TV now works perfectly.

Thanks for the help anyway guys.

Call Palsonic serv dept 1300657888 opt 3 -will email u software update you load to usb stick then follow instr to load to tv- Hmmm- didn't work on my tv! Think tv HAS to turn on to load update- wonder how loopy lou did that small thing? Then agin- serv dept tech said was just as likely to be a fault on main brd- req new board(no comp level rep,s possible!)- about $120. Tv was just 8 months old! Palsonic will repair free any tv sent to their address in Waterloo if wrrty or just out! Hmmmm- seems to be design fault- these are made in china to my knowledge- BUT Chinese branded sets are much more reliable!

Yep, got the software from Palsonic.
    Instruction is simple :
Put the software onto a flash drive.
With the tv off. plug in the flash drive.
    Turn on the tv.
The power light will do a lot of flashing then stop.
Turn off the tv then unplug the flash drive.
Turn on the tv again and it will operate as normal.

Tom Mix, Do you get any response from the power led when you turn on your tv ?

L-L- plug tv in to gpo- red led on- press pwr sw on tv- green led on- dat's all folk,s! At 1st after many press tv would come on & stay on all night. When checking pwr spply v,s got tv to come on by s/c 3.6v to g(only once!) R/p all electros in p/s brd- no change(all measured as new!) I picked most likely suspect as micro on main brd(getting warm with no pic/ no snd, just green led). Saw your software dn ld post & tried- symptoms perzackly de same! No flashing red led (or even green flashing!)- tried few times- sure dn ld viable- new mt usb stick- SOOOO-back to the drawing board! or more correctly, trying a new main board- then again- what if it still no work!? My point is : this should NOT be necesscary- a $700 tv should be reliable! & as for sending to Palsonic- about $160 freight! Bought a new led/lcd tv from Coles about 4yrs ago (Nu Tec) hasn't missed a beat! Sure would love to see Palsonic prosper- BUT if they supply unreliable products- then!!!!!

Try it again with the flash drive formatted to FAT16. or maybe FAT32.
Also use the smallest flash drive you can get like 256MB or maybe 1GB.
I use an old 64MB for updates.

    The software is BIN_MSD_306.bin

Procedures to load new firmware vary from one electronic appliance to another.

Some units will make provision for loading new firmware via an option in the menu system, while on others, the receiver's "boot loader" will look at an external port for the presence of a new firmware file, at boot time (when the receiver is switched on).

In this case, it appears that the Palsonic television receiver adopts the latter approach. This means, that when first switched on, it will detect the presence of a suitable firmware upgrade file at the USB port and will then automatically load the file and execute it.

It's also important when upgrading firmware to use a completely "clean" flash drive with ONLY the firmware upgrade on it - nothing else whatsoever.

And yes, Loopylou's comments regarding flash drives are particularly relevant.

**Pay particular attention to the Palsonic firmware upgrade advice contained in the document available at .

    Well I'm back again.
The TV failed again this arvo.
Firstly, it would not turn on with the remote so I tried a reset by removing the mains for a bit then turned it on again. The symptoms from that point were identical to the first post.
I figured the best resolution would be to try reloading the firmware again.
When I loaded the firmware a few months ago, it took a fair while of flashing to load it. This time it flash for only a couple of seconds then all went quiet. I turned off the TV, then back on but now it's totally dead. No lights no nothin'.

Yep, they are not only unreliable but generally poor quality image as well. It's a wonder they are not embarrassed by the start up screen that says "Palsonic, the Australian company". I'll give them one thing though, they're not too bad to deal with. I rang their tech and told them about the fault and they sent me another main board for free so the TV is fixed again.

Learning as I go LL. Getting there. Turned off spell checker, should do the trick! Thanks for jogging my memory. When I enquired Palsonic spares re new main bed told they needed panel no to program main bed to suit, how did you get round this requirement? Obviously, did tablet will not accept abbreviations!bed is board, did is this.
