Don't worry....I got through to Palsonic only to find that none of Palsonic's TV's display any sort of error codes.
So it's just the power supply trying to switch on. Prob a bad cap some where.
Does anyone have a list of Palsonic codes ?
I have an older 32" lcd that the power led flashes 9 times before it turns green and the tv starts working.
Although the tv seems to work ok, I'm curious as to what the tv is trying to tell me.

Ok well sometimes the tv won't start properly with a black screen but has sound so I'll be looking at the backlight boards now
From memory one of the Palsonic models needed diodes to be replaced on the tuner board, post up a picture of the board and I'll see if it jogs my memory.
It's a TFTV836BK.
I replace 2 electro caps on each backlight board to no avail.
I realize now that the backlights are prob not supposed to try to turn on til the last phase of boot so boot must be seeing another problem.
Sorry, photos are a little blurry. I can take them again if you want.

The bad news is the board is different to the one that needs the diodes replaced.
Check the SMD fuses on each of the inverter boards. Check for DJ's on the power supply output sockets and sometimes poor connections on the plugs for the wire looms from the power supply to the inverter boards.
Fuses are good.
Checked for bad joints.
and plugs are ok.
I decided to go over some of the joints on the 2 inverter board just to be sure. fets and caps mainly. That didn't change anything.
I notice that when the backlight turns on or off there is a very faint tic from the PS that sounds like a tiny relay but there isn't one. I couldn't locate exactly where the tic originated from.
I turned the tele on and off maybe 20 times and the backlight came on every time (after the 9 flashes).
Left the tv on while thinking about it and suddenly after about 5 mins the backlight went very dim and the tic was vibrating rapidly so it sounded like sizzling.
Now when I switch the tv on it does the same thing. Dim and sizzle.
There are no funny smells or smoke (yet).

check the backlight inverter transformers for shorted turns etcafter about 5 mins the backlight went very dim and the tic was vibrating rapidly so it sounded like sizzling.

Ok so I went back over the PS board and resoldered the last of any joints that weren't something like perfect.
The result is like reading post #8 again.
The tv worked at first then mucked up.
So deciding it's prob heat related I went looking at the fets, diodes etc. screwed to the heat sinks.
I looked and looked and looked and looked and only at exactly the right angle looking through the heat sink slots I could see a slightly bulging cap.
Took a lot to get that heat sink out.
I've now ordered some replacement caps. Should be here tomorrow.
Changed all 6 caps under that heatsink.
Power led still flashes on start up but the backlight stays on now.
Thought you might be interested to see what I found while looking through my capacitor storage.
A brand new cap with the top split and bulging.
