ok I would like to know how others interpret this assignment I have to do
Write a forensic report detailing the analysis of a computer system. Provide sufficient detail for an expert to repeat the analysis and clearly present the results at the level of understanding of a jury of lay people. You may outline a hypothetical scenario or, for maximum credit, report the actual results of your analysis of a particular system describing the forensic software and methods used.
That is all the information I have been given , but computer forensics are a lot different from other forensics . I was leaning towards using something basic like the 'restore point' in a windows system
how would others go about doing this ?

yeah the course is 'introduction to forensic science' and because i cannot make the field school I had to do a case study , by the time I realised that I had to sign up for a case study all the others were full , looks like I might be the only person doing this one lmao
oh yeah and Mango how have you been travelling mate ?
I would have thought with a computer forensics report you first remove the hard drive, then make an image of it, without disturbing the original, then scan for what you are looking for looking. ie search existing text files for "key words", search images etc. Then recover deleted files and repeat.
A google search reveals report templates and lots more.

I have a few pdf's which may help, but are a bit too large to email.
Advances in Digital Forensics III.pdf
Advances in Digital Forensics IV.pdf
Brown - Computer Evidence - Collection and Preservation (Thomson, 2006).pdf
Volonino - Computer Forensics for Dummies (Wiley, 2008).pdf
Wiley Computer Forensics for Dummies.pdf
Wiley Computer Fraud Casebook The Bytes that Bite.pdf
Sizez vary between 1.7Mb - 22.2Mb.
You may find these on a torrent or two![]()
what is the objective of the computer system? What is it used for? Is it an inventory computer or an internet based computer? Is it a data entry computer or is it a personal computer? I would base your findings one a computer that has a specific task, not just a general computer as that leaves yourself open to too many variables and too much work.
iam a bogan
thanks for the input
mate good point there , use a specific system
hakko you can eamil me those to my email address , no restriction on size
thanks for the links ssrattus
anyone want to do the assignemnt for me![]()
How about a time clocking system??
Nearly every payday we have differences in clocked times to those actually worked.Supposedly a automated system.
But we often suspect clocked times being "editted" by the pay master.
We even watch each other clock out and verify each other.
Suppose you could base it on disputed hours.prove the system is working and "find" evidence of manual alteration.
Only suggest this as I'm off in 3/4 hr.
F@#%$^G time clock better work!
PM sent
lmao @ sublib but good idea mate , thank you
