    Question Flashing lights

Do you flash your headlights to warn other drivers of cops ahead ?

I do and its very rare to see anyone else do it now days,
Years ago you use to see it all the time. Are people just to lazy or scared of being caught doing it.

I have been saved so many times I dont care if I get caught. I would still be in front at the end of the day.

    Always, no questions asked.

It should be a unwritten law.

Others flashing has saved my arse many times.

For radar. Yep. It's Un-Australian not too.

But for those worried about flashing, just use your window washers at the same time.
That way if for some amazing reason you do get pulled over, you can tell the cop you were washing your car and your work car or your mrs car has it on the other side of the steering column.

    For RBT. No.

I haven't done it for the rego check cameras. I'm always amazed at the number of cars they have pulled up on Cowpasture Rd at Green Valley.

I don't flash my lights because if you are speeding or driving after a couple, you deserve to cop it.

I have had a fair few fines over the years of driving coaches & semis. I have always copped it sweet because I have never been stiched up & I have always been guilty of the offence.

    Australia

Headlight flashing to warn drivers of is in the Australian State of , carrying a $30 fine and one , or a $1500 fine if the fine is unsuccessfully challenged in court. Officers may either fine a driver for improper use of headlights, or may even arrest and prosecute for hindering police.

I don't but for two reasons, the four xenon lights in front of the ute are blinding, and I have a UHF that I turn on when out of town. I do give the UHF a workout if somethings going on.

Bit of a mixture really. I do flash my lights, but it depends on the oncoming cars.

If they look to be idiots or the 4x4 BMW drivers that think the road is theirs, I let them go and hope the hell the cops catch them.
For the truckies and other decent road users, I always flash and hope they do the same for me. No I'm not a fuddy duddy either.

For RBT's, I don't flash at all. If the driver has been stupid enough to drive under the influence of drugs or alcohol, then I'll even call 131-444 and dob them in. Seen way too much carnage for my liking.

I must agree with Xplorer, i also tend to be a little selective over who i flash to.

Taxi drivers, doof doof music drivers and the ones who think they are a higher class of human tend to get no flash in fact Ive often wondered if there was a way i could make them drive faster.

Yup I cant help myself even with the other half moaning that it might be a cop coming the other way.
I also Flash those little buggers with P plates when there is no radar, gives me a fuzzy feeling to see them hit the brake and slow down. Hopefully they have a better chance of geting home in one piece

I do it NEARLY everytime , if the speedtrap is in a school zone, then anyone speeding deserves to be caught. Anywhere else and it is a quick double flash of the lights

same as many above.... i have done it many times. i have been selective as well. it even cost me money to help others, i blew out one of my headlights on a van... it was one of those all in one units (could not just replace the globe) and the original replacement part (from memory) was $80!!! doh!!! dam mazda's...

probably should not say this as I will either get flamed and/or name called, I went through a phase of despising speed camera's (not the coppers, the privateers) I have spent time sitting opposite the camera and just flashing my lights. I have even parked in front of them and been told to move on.

i have come too my senses now
