I wouldn't wan't to be a retailer selling sub standard / cheap product.

Im more worried about the ability claim against those selling quality products as the expectation is higher from them.
We (RDA) offer a 12 months, 20,000Km warranty on all brake rotors, so far not one has been returned, however should i need to i can at no cost to myself.
Now a consumer can possibly say your superior rotor should have been good for more Km at my expense, not the manufacturers the way i see it.
Not happy Jan.
Nice find osci thanks

When you do things right, people won't be sure that you have done anything at all
I don't think it applies to inferior products.
"If the TV is a more expensive brand, especially one that makes claims about its quality and durability, it will be held to a higher standard of quality and durability under the ACL than a home brand that is half the price and does not make similar claims."

I used statatory warranty against HN a few years back on a $1500 fridge that shat itself after 4 years. They did not want to do shit, but the the manager came out, replaced the fridge with a new equivalent model and asked me not to tell anyone about that bit of law![]()
mate i have been telling people about it for years, tis the main reason I never get the rip off extended warranty
I worked for HN for a few years and the extended warranty is not a rip off if used to the customers advantage.
Here's a trick I used many times to help customers out, customer claims in ext warranty period and if the repair costs more than the actual product is worth they will replace the product with a new one. I would usually over quote on the repair. When booking out the new product the customer pays a cheaper ext warranty on the new product (only cost they incur) and they receive 12-24 months manufacturers warranty and then the ext warranty period of their choice. I did this many times and several customers received a new laptop every 18 months. They never complained when a broken laptop became a new laptop in a quicker time than it would take to repair the old laptop. The only person who lost was the extended warranty company. The quickest turnaround for a replacement I did was 4 days, considering claims take 48 hours to process.
If a product was out of warranty I would push the supplier to come the party. If the rep did not next time they were in the store I would remind them about it when they try and push a new product onto the shelf.
Mobile phones are the worst for this, locked into a 24 month contract with only 12 months warranty on the handset.
