Default Binatone x350.... IGO conversion

I have a binatone x350 which only has UK maps, runs ce5, with navteq maps.
I want to drop the binatone software and load igo onboard.
Maps and running programs appear to be all onboard but unit does have a sd slot.
Looking at it with vista it shows two drives One unlabelled with about 2MB but access is denied for alterations (a Rom I assume) and the other is resident flash which is reported to have 64MB by the specifications but will not give a size using properties.
mobilenavigator.exe appears to be the main navigation software.
What of IGO do I paste into this folder and will renaming the IGO.EXE file to mobile navigator be enough to run it? Will Igo automatically look to the SD card for maps?
Any suggestions appreciated
Regards Craig

Hi Craig,

The easiest way to go about it with the Binatones is to place iGo or whatever software you want to use on a blank SD card,
rename the softwares folder to "MobileNavigator', then rename the softwares .exe to "MobileNavigator.exe"

Insert your Sd card, fire up the Binatone and hit the navigation button.
new software should start immediately.

Let me know how that goes, but last time I played with a Binatone that was all that was needed!! LOL!

Cheers

I am trying to use the igo8 software downloaded from the navsoon site referenced in this post Nav N Go iGO 8 v8.0.0.44366 - 24 June 08 Release
I hit the navigator button and it just stops. Is Igo8 compatable?

I have somehow managed to get igo8 to start. It allows me to set language and voice but stalls on the "starting" screen and the screen goes funny with retrace lines.

Hi Craig,

Hmmm...that sounds a bit weird mate!!

I think that one may be a bit beyond me because I don't have access to a Binatone to test on.

Only thing I could maybe suggest would be try an Older / Different version of IGo.

I know the version I had working on my stepfathers was 8.0.0.44366.

If that helps!! LOL!

Cheers

**Edit**
Just a thought, did you put maps, speedcam, DEM and building files in your iGo\Content folder...I had something similar to that
and it ended up being a corrupt speedcam file.

Thanks Brian
I removed all the unnecessary content files with no improvement.
Could it be a memory issue maybe?
Do you happen to have a link to the file you successfully installed by any chance?

I think this may help you dogs it's what I did to get my E750 working with iGo8 and I'm pretty sure the Binatone is the same unit sold by KMart, give it a try and I would suggest you use the version of iGo8 from the link at the bottom of this post as the TTS works perfectly.

Ok I've got it working after I found a post on Navsoon - WinCE • View topic - E610 and igo8, see below what I did.

"I got the same type of message too. You will need to get hold of iGO 8 PND. I suggest you also get a new SD card just in case you have any problems.

You will need to do the following
1. BACKUP YOUR SD !!
2. CHECK YOUR BACKUP
3. Create a folder at the root SD mobilenavigator
4. Move the iGO files to this directory
5. Change the name of the *.exe to mobilenavigator.exe
6. copy the lines between the == == to the sys.txt file

== ==
[folders]
app="SDMMC/mobilenavigator"
;app="Internal Storage/iGO8"
sdcardpath="\SDMMC"
;exe=""
data="\SDMMC\mobilenavigator" ;custom,save
content="\SDMMC\mobilenavigator\CONTENT"
;textures="custom"
;models="custom"

[modules]
iGO8 = "", "SDMMC/mobilenavigator/mobilenavigator.exe"

[interface]
maxzoom2d=6000000
show_exit=1
resolution_dir="320_240"
vga=0

[gps]
port=1
baud=9600

[debug]
skip_eula=1
enable_roadshadow=1

[map]
auto_nightmode=0

[msnd]
msnd.start=0

[sound]
ding=0
== ==
I would like thank all the members who did the really hard work to allow me to get the E610 working.

The first time you run the software it WILL take a while to get going – make yourself a cup of tea, read the paper."

This worked for me I also edited the above sys.txt file with the following:

[gps]
port=3
baud=9600

because it wasn't finding my gps module.

Hope this helps all those who have been trying unsuccessfully to get this to work.

Thanks to all who helped me.

Oberg.

I used this version of iGo8:

Navsoon - WinCE • View topic - IGO V8 + Map for Australia

It's the 6 rar files at the bottom of the 1st page of the thread.

Hope this helps,

Oberg.
