Destinator 8.1 with Australia Map 2008.Q1 & TTS - TUTORIAL

If there are any mistakes, please PM me to let me know so that I can fix them.
Please notify me of dead links as well, I'll do my best to fix it.

for most of you, it will work the first time, however some of you will have problems,
some minor and some major. All devices are different and you will get many different types
of errors. I can't list all the issues here but I want to ask people to help each other out
and support each other if someone asks for help. I'll do my best as well.

If there are newer versions of what I uploaded here, please let me know, please dont just say
there is a newer one, please supply the link or upload it yourself. Thanks

THINGS TO KNOW:
------------------------------------------------------
1) English voices only
2) Australia map only
3) If you get errors or trouble starting the application ask here for help or Google it, because google is your friend.
4) None of my archives have passwords - I share, not keep secrets.
5) Don't extract directly to the memory card, files tend to get corrupt that way !
6) Map is already activated / patched
7) This has TTS (text to speech)
8) If anyone has newer maps / voices / speed cams / POI's etc please upload them here.

WHAT DEVICE DOES THIS WORK ON?
------------------------------------------------------
1) Most Windows Mobile 5.0 or 6.5 devices
2) Works on my Chinese In-Car DVD/GPS system that runs a CE5.0 core
3) Confirmed working on my HTC TyTN II Mobile, HTC Dopod 838 Pro, and mio168 running windows mobile 2003 with CE 4.2 core)
4) I was not able to get this working on my HTC Touch Pro 2, the screen is really messed up and fuzzy. Don't know why. I'm assuming the phones resolution is not compatible with Destinator.

WHAT TO DOWNLOAD:
------------------------------------------------------
1) REQUIRED -

PREPERATION:
------------------------------------------------------
1) OPTIONAL - Back up any previous versions of Destinator data that you may have (eg: poi's, maps, speed cams, voices etc).
2) OPTIONAL - Uninstall/Delete any previous Destinator versions/directories.
3) If your CE device / PNA / PDA / PPC uses a SD card for the maps and software, then you'll need a SD card reader for your computer or laptop or you can plug your device in via the USB to transfer data that way, depending on your device.
3) REQUIRED - Have installed.

INSTALLATION:
------------------------------------------------------
1) Extract [Destinator.rar] to a temp folder of your hard drive.
2) Copy the [Destinator] folder to the root of your SD memory card.
3) Before you start the application you will need to change your port/baud settings. Go to MEMORY CARD\Destinator\MobileNavigator\UserData and open file GPSTMC.ini with notepad.
4) Change your required settings (see picture)

5) Once you have done this, save the file.
6) Start Destinator with MobileNavigator.exe

That is it ! Enjoy

Doesn't seem to have TTS, well at least not on the demo. Will road test tommorow

download the original map, see if u have tts then. ?

no TTS with both maps. Is there a special tts voice that may be missing?

Ok, decided to have a go at this one. Destinator was the first GPS system I used some time ago, probably 7 years or so ago. Then I got to like TomTom and stuck with it until recently. So now I got it going straight away and in my opinion it has not made any significant improvement over the years. The only thing that attracted me to it was the TTS....well it certainly doesn't work for me, there are only two voices to choose from, Spanish and English, where do we get the TTS voices from?

I've been surfing all the GPS sites that I could find and am surprised as to how little information there is about Destinator, considering it was once a very popular piece of software.
If I find the voice files, will let you know.

Well the maps work in destinator 8, but I think destinator 9 is not for windows ce
