Default POI's a more condensed set - if possible

    Downunder,

I think you passed on a pretty good list of POI's here a while back.

But on my TT1XL, i seem to have duplicates and it's pretty annoying when i get to a set of lights (at a school), and the screen has all these floating icons (nevermind the petrol stations as well) ,the warnings go 'beep beep', even when i can't see any cameras! and then my heart slows down

    I've got these safety POI's:

    [Blue camera icon] Cameras
    [Blue camera icon] Speed Cameras
[Tiny yellow icon] Red Light Cameras (Two of them)
[Traffic signal red/yellow/green light icon] Redlight Cameras
[Red triangle with walking image inthe middle icon] AUS-School
[Red and Black, with yellow triangle, walking image icon] School Zone Warning
[Yellow house shape, old people walking image] School Zones
[Square box, with green thing! icon] Traffic Camera
[Yellow house with 40 icon] Variable SpeedCam-AU

What do you recommend that i can do to whittle then down?

    Thanks DU.

The easiest thing is to to untick the POI's you don't need from showing on the map screen - you will still get warnings if you have selected "warn when near POI" ...
For the cameras and school zones I have included some .ogg files to give spoken warnings - copy them into the folder "sounds" and you can select them as a warning.

I included this "overkill" because some cams are not covered by the original Tomtom speed cams.
If you prefer to have less than simply go into your mapfolder and delete the .bmp and .ov2 files that you don't need.

I only offer these POI's and they were collected by PUCA and myself - it is up to you how man of them you use

    @ Hollowman,

I think i am, yes. I don't know which one(s), have the most, or are complete duplicates.

In one preivious thread, i have just tested the navcore 8.413 and at my local set of lights, all the traffic and school icons came up - but there are no schools!

Also, my TT didn't go 'beep beep' with the traffic camera close by, even though the icon (blue camera) one was showing...

    Thanks.

Ha ha, DU beat me to it by a few mins...

Wondered what those oog files were for...

I have just copied them into the sounds folder. I assume that i don't need to run Keygen again or do i?

BTW, your 8.413 navcore was much more detailed than the one i ended up using. In mine i have no car symbols and your's had lots.
Mine doesn't have all the BlueTooth options, your's seemed to have lots.

Keygen only for activating maps .speedcams or premium voices that need a key ,and well ,the patching of a Navcore if you uses a genuine one...

    @DND

Not sure how i 'turn off' the POI's. But i have 4.4MB of free ram.

Funny thing: As i was typing what my device was/had/versions etc- in another post yesterday - I had that info screen on and it was showing 4.5MB and as i was typing the info into austech it moved to 4.4MB - go figure!

Downunder: Not sure if you're around but could you check on this for me and let me know what you think.

It's my Map folder - 840 map and (have whittled down some POI's), but not sure about the other files (besides the map files).

Please advise on what can go and stay.

I found some oog files and deleted them and moved them to Sounds. Is that good?

    Ah, right!

Have seen it around. Just been used to sending files and stuff by RS.

I'll bang it on there any way and see how it works
    How's this?

A bit small. I run my screen in 1920*1200.

I'd guess that most people will be able to zoom in. If not i'll work out how to make it bigger if needed.
    thanks.

You disable unwanted POI's from showing on the map in the preferences :
    "show POI on map" ...
I use the full package but only a few show up on the map
So it was not necessary to delete all POI's from your map folder.

Downunder. You have made mentions of "It's possible..." that TT1XL's might run slow with to many POI's.

If i load all your POI's on to my TT1XL (into the Map folder), does that change my Free Ram?

And once i have "Disabled the 'unwanted' POI's", does that have any effect on the Free Ram and/or the slowness?

So, in effect, i or anyone can have installed hundreds of POI's loaded and THE ONLY 'hassle' is what is "see able" and not what is "disabled/unwanted"?

    Grats.

The amount of POI's does not affect your free RAM.
If you have selected too many POI's to show up on the map it might affect the free RAM ,but it will almost always affect the speed of your device ,which can be noted when you get a stop-and-go-map instead of a map that moves freely and smooth.
You install as many POI's as you like ,but make sure you only allow the most important to show on the map

Thank you people for all your help.

I'll leave my TT alone for a while now - until the next map

May the new year be good for us all.
