    I have the same one.
There are 3 "spots" next to the screen cable. Connect the one in the middle (TP36 i think it is) to the top of metal (Ground) next to it and connect USB cable to PC and disconnect that TP36 from metal. Install drivers etc. and you are ready to flash firmware.
Remember that you have to shortcircuit every time you disconnect and connect USB from PC.

Oh, that's just like mine then. I didn't even know that those buttons were for scrolling and I have to manually launch navigation (no big problem since igo will suspend when power is removed and come back when it's re-applied).
If you find a newer version with everything working (BT, AV-IN, etc.) please tell me (not that I'm in a hurry to flash it but I like to keep backups).

FYI, the version I have is this one:

    Firmware V.912C.213000.111019.256M
    Application V1.4 ABF-UI20-HD-EN-CE6.0

EDIT: BTW, since you have the same board, do you know if shorting pins 4 and 5 in the usb connector will enable serial (ttl) mode?
Or if is there a ttl serial port inside? It's for connecting a tmc receiver, I can use bluetooth but I'd prefer a wired connection.

Ok.. The one I flashed from the file we found here is:

    Firmware: V.912C.213000.110902.128M
    Application: V.1.6ABF-UI20-HD-EN

So it looks like your rom is newer, but application is older. I am looking for rom with
    Rom: V.912C.213000.111019.128M
    APP: V1.8ABF-UI20-HD-EN

Are you sure that you have 256MB RAM?
I don'tknow anything about TMC, but would like to have it

No, I have just 128M, but the firmware name ends in 256M.

My mate's YF GPS won't let me calibrate it - the crosshairs just keep appearing! It appears his menu button doesn't work either, so when I turn it on, I can't get past the calibration. I've tried reflashing the firmware, but his must be a different FW version to mine, because it just doesn't flash.

    This is the unit

    Any ideas?

Hello, I have bought 4.3'' GPS (DX sku 39243). It is equipped with WinCE 6, but it is in Chinese. Any idea on how to get a suitable rom image to update OS to a different language (English or Spanish or French or Portuguese... or whatever a little more understandable than Chinese).
Navigator software (in my case I installed IGO Primo 2.0) is not the problem since it is configurable, however, other preinstalled applications like PDF reader or Excel have their interfaces and menus based on native operating system... so they are in Chinese.

    Device characteristics are:

    RomVersion: PT82.T.15.27
    Software version V3.6.I5Y333.12.13
    OEM nfo: YFMStar
    platform id: 5955414E46454E47
    device id 0000000000000000

I wonder if the rom image should match current RomVersion, Platform ID, or other.

Any idea will be wellcome. Thank you.

Don't believe this statement is correct.
    1. CE has two settings concerning language used: [HKCU\MUI\CurLang] and [HKLM\MUI\CurLang], whereas basically the first setting is used if different from second.
    2. CE has another place user-language dependent things are stored: file \Windows\wince.nls. This file is used by the applications you mentioned.

    Thanks jwoegerbauer for the repply.
So you think it is possible to change languaje, at least in the applications. Could you give some advice on how to do it. I have everything in Chinese (below some screen captures: word, excel and powerpoint).
I am still interested in changing OS language (rom update), but if it is possible to change language in applications, it is a good advance.

    Hi
    I have this GPS:

I'm desperate: when I connect to the computer does not detect it. The screen where it exits the menu is "frozen" when I click on an icon does nothing.
I do not know your operating system. I do not know if Windows CE 5 or Windows CE 6.0. No button to perform the hard reset. Just a hole for the soft reset.
I do not speak English, but if you help me translate it as best you can.
    Thank you.

    Hola:
    Gracias.

After reading through this thread I thought I would take the plunge and get one of the units from Chinavasion.
I am thinking of getting this unit for our work ute (Ford Courier).
It only has a single DIN slot.

Has anyone bought this one before?
Or any other advice. I found the threads on the maps etc., I don't want anything fancy, mainly the handsfree and GPS function.

    Edit:
I am happy to buy the Oz maps, which one is the best one to buy for the above unit?

A single DIN (180 x 50 mm panel) unit at the first glance looks fine, but you should keep in mind, that current navigation software requires a display with screen resolution of either 480x272px or 800x480px. ChinaVision does not tell anything about this device's screen resolution, quite reverse, they tell you

Special GPS Note: This model is compatible with most brands of GPS software - however hardware specific software such as Garmin may not run on this unit. As the wholesaler, Chinavasion provides the GPS-enabled hardware only, not the software. Chinavasion provides no warranty or customer support regarding GPS software. Chinavasion cannot provide downloads / links / advice regarding GPS software. Any software installation you undertake should be performed or supervised by a professional.

    I am wondering why.

If you are interested in how to get out mm from pixels: The formula is
    mm = (pixels * 25.4) / dpi

Knowing this, you easily can compute necessary screen height in mm, as shown next (assumed 96dpi, that's Windows CE default)

    272 * 25.4 / 96 = 72mm

    480 * 25.4 / 96 = 127mm

    Thanks for the info.
I contacted Chinavasion and they could not tell me what the resolution was. Only that the screen is 5" TFT. Then they reiterated that they cannot guarantee that the unit will work with all GPS software. Maybe I should look at something local with the maps already loaded.

    A 5'' touchscreen (display) never fits into a 180 x 55 (1 DIN) slot:
