    Default No Touch Screen

    Help Needed!!
I have a chinese GPS and I have no idea what firmware is on it. I am willing to flash any firmware but my problem is that my TOUCH SCREEN does not work. The unit boots into the welcome screen with a picture of a car and the words GPS exactly like the third picture in the first post by NoService. Thats as far as I can go. It worked fine till a few days ago, and I did nothing to it.Doing a reset does nothing.I;ve tried to put the firmware on an SD card but when it brings up a screen about "Do you want to update firmware Yes or NO" I cant push the yes cause it doesnt work.
Is there any way to "kick it in the head" and bring it back.
    Thanks
    BICKY

Question Who would have the same as mine?

It is a 4.3 inch, black color with a double silver frame, and with WinCE6.
I bought it in spring 2010

Following a false move, I had to erase a portion of memory.
Now when I turn it on, it gets stuck on the start display with this error message:
"Can not find 'PMP'(or one of its components). Make sure path and filename are correct and that all the required libraries are available".

The only possible thing would be to reinstall the firmware from the memory card. But I can’t go into the device, so I don’t know which is the firmware number.

If you recognize this device and you have the same display, can you tell me (or send me) which is the good firmware?

    Thanks for helping me

    Thumbs up

Hi Guys, I'm going to share some gold with you today. After many hours of work i finally managed to get my iPhone like 800x480 GPS AV + BT working perfectly. As some of you might have noticed, the English translation of this GPS had a typo in the Video icon. It spelled "Vedio". It was bugging me a lot so i decided to investigate. A few flashes of the firmware with different versions only left me without Blue Tooth or other functionalities. I finally managed to setup a proper mix of both working and messed up firmwares and here is the result:

    APP Version:
    YECON-V1.1ABF-UI20-HD-EN ( AV + BT + Corrected Video icon ) -
Just copy paste everything in the ResidentFlash2 folder and overwrite the existing files.

What i did before that, was to flash the device with the following files:

By the way if you're looking for the same YECON-V1.1ABF-UI20-HD-EN firmware, without BT and AV just flash with the above provided file. Don't replace the contents of ResidentFlash2 with the download from the top link.

    Rom Version is V.08D.000008.100701.128M
    GPS MODEL: YG-908D-ABFSJ-1M-AS

In case you don't know how to Flash the device here are the steps:

    1. Format the SD card and make it FAT only (not FAT32)
    2. Make sure your GPS is charged.
    3. Copy the contents from the last download to the SD card
    4. Put the SD card in the GPS unit and restart it.
    5. An installation should start, WAIT FOR IT PATIENTLY!
    6. When finished you will see the main screen IT'S NOT CALIBRATED YET
    7. Calibrate (click next to the eBook icon and in order to press YES on the popup press NO) as ridiculous as it sounds it actually works...
    8. Once calibrated, remove the SD Card from the device, remove the files and you're all set.

WARNING! BY FLASHING THE FIRMWARE YOU VOID YOUR WARRANTY!!!

Here is a picture from the inside and the Chip itself:

Hope all this is helpful for someone, it costed me a lot of time to prepare and make perfect. Good luck to all of you!

Just checked the link and it's still good, If it doesn't work then you've probably bricked the bootloader. I haven't managed to resurrect a bricked bootloader yet. I've got 3 with bricked bootloaders that make nice paperweights though!

    Hi Rafaelo,

I tried to load my GPS with your firmware using only the xip.nb0 and the gpsapp.msk files. What I found was that the image replaces the OS but the updater cannot find the gpsapp.msk file. I did not want to put all the files on the SD card because I'm afraid I will brick it.

As an alternative I replaced the maiin.exe and the data_800x480.pack. That fixed the horrible typo.

My question, is it safe to put all the files on the SD card including the boot loader image?

    My device info:
    Rom version: V.19D.000007.100913.128M
    App version: V1.2.21.10.08.26
    System ID: 0018E420-10000000-0000000-00001063

    Its a 7 inch Mediatek MTK3351 +128MB RAM + BT + FM

    Hope you can help.

I asked the eBay seller who I bought it and he gave me a link to download the firmware. And my GPS works again!

Hi, if your device looks like a giant iPhone it's safe to do it . If it doesn't work, you can always re-flash to your original firmware if you have it. Basically what my firmware does, is it replaces the whole OS to WIN 5 Russian, and add the regular menu without the option for BT. That's why i've also included the ResidentFlash2 folder.

I think you can give it a try. Basically you can't brick your device if the OS does not get installed correctly. Hope all goes well, good luck.

WHOA! Slow down! the look of the case is irrelevant, Nearly every single Chinese GPS manufacturer is using the same iPhone look-a-like cases, and there is only several different base hardware setups as well. But the difference in bootloaders is vast and loading the wrong one will more than likely brick the GPS PERMANENTLY! I've got three 5" LCD paperweights as testimony to this and I was very careful, double checking everything first. But even then, shit happens!

If the unit didn't recognise or accept gpsapp.msk, then I can almost guarantee that it's the wrong bootloader as well.
